I just read this on Google's policy page:

Misleading representation
We do not allow content that:
misrepresents, misstates, or conceals information about the publisher, the content creator, the purpose of the content, or the content itself.

[support.google.com...]

Umm, does "we do not allow content that... conceals information about... the content creator" mean that they no longer allow anonymous usernames?

This is an adsense question, and refers to adsense publishers falsely representing themselves.

I just read this on Google's policy page:

more specifically, the "Google Publisher Policies" page in the Google Adsense Help Center.

moving this to another forum...

I hope so! But since it explicitly included "the content creator" it scares me.

There's been a lot of talk on here about Google punishing UGC, and that does seem to be true. I've talked about how my traffic is higher than ever, but my Adsense revenue is a fraction of what it was in 2016. Now I read through their policies, and it looks like they're punishing any conversations that they don't like. I have users debating (often heatedly) the Ukraine war, COVID, transgender rights, gay rights, etc, and the policies read like I'm being punished for every one of those debates.

That stuff falls into "misinformation", "hate", and other pitfalls in their policy guidelines. The number of categories has grown over the years, but UGC was knocked back as a ranking factor years ago ...
