Now up 15% in revenue over October of last year. I hope this keeps up.

Same here @gatormark.

But the thing is, time changes.

And in the case of Google. It changes even more often with catastrophic damages

I'm up a bit too compared to last year. However, having been traumatized over the past year by huge month end clawbacks, I automatically assume a chunk of the increase will be deemed invalid by the Google Gods.

I'm in the habit now of automatically self-penalizing my Adsense earnings 15% as I monitor it so it's not quite a shock for the month-end clawback time. It's like paying the tax man twice.

My clawbacks have always been in the 7-11% range for as long as I can remember. So, I just factor that in.

For the Google Adsense people that read here, I’d hope they’d at least think about ways they can help publishers reduce these clawbacks.

Some members here have suggested helpful ways of reducing them but for many it’s not that easy and it’s a bit like playing whackamole.

Personally, I think the onus shouldn’t be on the publisher to reduce these “invalid clicks” as they simply can’t predict where these clicks may come from or how they’ll be interpreted on the front end. Many of us are busy with the day to day work of building good sites for our users that add value to them and our bottom lines and often lack the skills; the tech know how or the resource to employ specialists to trawl through log files and identify potentially problematic ip’s or asn’s. Not everyone uses a CDN and for those that do, not all cDN’s offer a route to block by ASN either so there really isn’t a one size fits all solution here.

Personally, I’d like to see more help given to trusted publisher's, more information on the types of problematic visitors and users, where they’re coming from and why they’re unwelcome. More tools to easily block bad actors or traffic and perhaps more clicks filtered at source as and when they happen.

It’s disheartening to see huge % clawbacks, it’s also worrisome too as at some level you do naturally fear some kind of ban hammer coming down on a thing you’ve tried hard to reduce.

I get the swathe of “don’t be silly google won’t tell you that ever” type sentiments that buy into an idea that publishers and spammers would abuse such info but I don’t accept them. We are supposed to be their partners, we generate massive revenue for them and it’s not unreasonable to suggest that we get that little more assistance here. To just accept that this is how it is and it’s every man for themselves is a bit of a crappy way for it to be, especially where the key holders to the game could help level it all.

^ agree 100%. You need to be tech savvy to understand your traffic and be able to spot the bad actors in an effective way. I feel for the webmasters that ask for assistance in dealing with this issue, and then realizing they have no idea where to begin; they only know how to create content on a semi-automated platform like WordPress.

I too wish Google would help out more in that regard; large clawbacks every month is disheartening especially to those that have no idea how to tackle the issue.

Heck, I manage my own servers, program my own databases and .net code, and design my own websites from the GROUND UP (no WordPress or other CMS's). It's impossible for me to identify invalid clicks. I am a server log freak, but that will only get you so far. Really it's an impossible task. So, I just look for obvious upticks in traffic (invalid traffic), identify the source, and tackle that. Aside from that, I don't know what to do. My ad placements are basic and I use auto ads.

As I said earlier, my clawback has always been in the 7-11% range, and that is over 14 years of Adsense use. I was shocked a couple of months ago when my clawback was only 5%. Fortunately, I never have MASSIVE clawbacks like some are reporting...in the 20% range...

I’ve gone from < 2% max (15 + years) to as high as 30% + in recent months in the space of 7 months.

No template changes, no huge shift in traffic patterns, have monitored and removed bad actors (ASN’s countries etc) during the period and still the clawbacks persist. Gets a little demoralising to say the least.

For me and a lot of other publishers, this clawback trend started right after the pandemic. It was good before the pandemic. I never had a huge clawback problem, but they're increasing my clawback by one or two percent every month. How come Google is suddenly declaring those clicks invalid?

After the indexing and canonical problem, I have realized that bugs (clawback in this case) could be Google's fault too.

Google can fix or at least improve it easily. They can tell us the traffic sources, country origin or devices, but it's clear that they want to hide data from publishers.

Adsense panel is gone :) I get 404 error.

Edit: seems like a redirect error. redirects to /adsense/adsense/new/ instead of /adsense/new/

The panel is working here. The earnings aren't so good, but the panel is fine.

I was getting the 404 thing too. Cleared my cache (Chrome desktop) and rebooted and it came back like normal. Dont know if it helped but it's working now.

Update: Nah, that didnt work. It's back to showing the 404 error. The mobile/smartphone version still works fine though.

Ok ya, the 404 issue seems to be a redirect thing. Removing the second "adsense" in the path makes it work...

I hope adsense was not hacked, and credentials not harvested. (now that it seems to work, I changed my password).

yclawback for my account has been between 1% and 3% for the last 15 years.

In the last 6 months it is between 20% -30%.
I use Cloudflare which should in theory filter invalid traffic as well, but till now without much success.

I agree that Adsense should offer more information, be more open to publishers, and provide the necessary help to minimize it.

I have the top countries USA, Germany, France, UK, Canada, Australia and despite that the clawback is so big.

For example, it would be ideal if, in addition to clawback, we also get the percentage of countries that are responsible for that.

Adsense notification in my account showing this news:
Vignette ads will start appearing on wider screens, such as desktop, after November 3rd

These ads have performed very well for me on mobile, I'm curious to see what the result will be on desktop and tablet. I'm not sure I would appreciate an interstitial ad on desktop.

There is a 'wide screen' option in Auto ads settings to turn off vignette ads on desktop.

"Turn this option off if you don't want vignette ads to appear on screens wider than 1000 px, like desktop."

It looks like fill rates are increasing for the holidays. Adsense is up 17% over last October and now my other monetizing sources are improving as well. Are you seeing this? USA focused website.

Is anyone seeing stalled Adsense numbers? My numbers have gone up a small amount in the last 8 hours but nothing like normal. I'm hoping the Adsense admin reporting area is stalled for others as well.

AdSense and especially Analytics reporting problem is common, so I have stopped looking at these tools every few hours. I check once in 24-30 hours, it is unnecessarily stressful :)

If I’m not hit by a huge clawback, this October will be a record month, like the in the golden age.

US is paying well, the rest of the world is dead.
