Looking for some guidance

I am using Adsense exclusively, and I do not have a full grasp of what should/should not be included in the ads.txt file. Does it need to include all of the networks that I've enabled inside my Adsense account? My previous developer handled the ads.txt file for me, and it has over 100 lines of networks/resellers. That seems excessive (and redundant)... I would've assumed a single line of code (for my Adsense account) should be listed. I need to get the excessive http requests under control (150-200 requests per page load with just two adsense units on any given page). Wondering if I simply have things misconfigured.

I took a small sample from my ads.txt file and searched Google.... It appears that it's a file shared by many, many websites (even big organizations including a major news network), probably created using some type of ads.txt manager plugin. I see 5 or 6 "Direct" Adsense accounts listed in the file, and I only have one; those other publisher accounts do not belong to me. Wish I had caught all of this earlier! In the long run it does not make a whole lot of difference (other than bad housekeeping) as the advertisers will only act on THEIR specific id applied to your site. All the rest is ignored. (at least that's the way it was explained to me at one point).

Me, I serve 404s for ads.txt :)

For some kind of sites, it makes sense to have long ads.txt file, because their advertising system is a complex set of multiple networks and partners ...

This is more or less related to [webmasterworld.com...] ... this is what happens when so-call web "masters", and other kind of web "professionals" are just doing copy n paste, without knowing what things are or mean, or doing a minimum of efforts to understand them.

"copy n paste" ... both boon and boondoggle. It only works when an active and engaged mind is involved. (sigh)

I get nagging ads.txt file notices from AdSense for translation sites translating my pages. Nothing I can do so I ignore them.

Yes I DO teach the world - that is/was my original aim over 20+ years ago [before AdSense]. I gave up tracking unique visitor numbers well over a decade ago when it exceeded 25 million back then.
