You can remove the code from your site for as long as you want. You don't close your account, just log in any time and restart it when you are ready. You don't need to reapply and start over.

Do nothing. Sites are up and down all the time, the account should stay in place for those periods.

If I leave it as it is it’ll be old news plus I am just taking a break for a few months... my site has old cms technology. will rethink afresh how to implement.

I would leave the site up and running until you decide exactly what you are doing. Adsense is the least of your worries... When you closed down the site you will lose all rankings. I would step back, but keep the site live.. then when you decide what changes you are going to make try and implement them with as less change to structure as possible and use redirects for new content areas. If you close it down then come back you are pretty much starting from scratch.

Ignore what I had posted, it was based on my own experience, but that was not so recent.

Well I can always re-apply. My choice now is to take a sabbatical for 9-12 months, after which I'll get the site re-built from scratch anew.

Do not neglect some kind of "useful" placeholder site, else your comeback will be from ZERO.

Take a break! We all have to do that from time to time. Just don't shoot yourself in the foot in the process. These days starting from Zero is more difficult than it used to be.

Run it on automatic. As long as ad impressions are possible the site remains viable as far as adsense is concerned. After all, evergreen stuff continues to work...

Take your break from pushing content, hovering like a mother hen, but don't take it down!

That's all good Tangor but besides my content cost there is also hosting cost that I have to worry about. My previous developer really made some awful mistakes and I'm spending my time doing whack a mole everyday (bugs). The traffic is going down instead of going up upon adding new content. So obviously I'm doing this wrong and I need a break :-)

One should do what they must do.

Hosting costs, I get it ... but I would personally put up a 3-5 page static site (solves the developer problems and deals with the question of cms temporarily) and move to a low cost shared host to keep the domain---and adsense---alive. Something like that can be as low as $25/year.

As for traffic, I think a lot of us are experiencing the same thing the last few years. This seems to be something general and widespread, not targeted at specifics ...

Tangor great idea about keeping a static site... but Adsense won't approve that low page website? Doesn't adsense code need to be installed on the website to keep adsense alive? I can host on a static AWS S3 setup for free.

It is keeping it alive that is important. And you have all intentions to return to it at a later date.

Sometimes taking a break is restorative. Sometimes a break is just reluctance to admit it's over and time to move on. Sometimes a break is simply necessary to regroup, replan, and RELAUNCH ... and that's what appears to be the case.

Tangor my question now is does Adsense allow to place code on 1-5 page website? And if I don't place adsense code in the static page website (keep the site alive), would it still be de-activated after say 5 months? Thanks!

I still have to ask why keeping the present site (sans new content) active is not the course taken? I assume it is more than 1-5 pages. :)

No I don’t want to spend money on hosting it either. I’m making more than hosting surely.

Hi so after some thought and advice here and from well wishers I’ve decided to continue with my current setup.. I’ll just utilise my time wisely :-)

You know what is best for you, but I must say I think this is a good choice... because starting from scratch is such a tough row to hoe these days!

Meanwhile, are there no other alternatives for hosting in your area? If there's more than one, surely there's a competitive difference somewhere!

Note: I am USA, but my host(s) for a number of sites are in a different country because of dollars involved v return on effort.
