I have noticed huge CPC drop over the past 2-3 days. Today is almost -60%.

Checked by country - seems this affects USA and Canada. Australia, UK , etc looks like normal.

Anyone experiencing such issues?

Nice findings @NickMNS.

There's definitely something going on with CPM & CPC bids.

After looking at my stats, I usually have twice as many CPC bids as CPM bids for both Canada & France, where 95% of my traffic originates from.

Starting August 6 though, CPC and CPM bids were almost equal for both Canada & France.

On August 7, CPM bids were 3 times higher than CPC bids for Canada, and still equal for France.

Today, August 8, CPM bids were almost 4 times higher than CPC bids for Canada, still equal for France.

@Jamvitos, Merci Beaucoup! I think we might be onto something.

Are other seeing the same shift to CPM?

I just spoke to one of U.S's largest Advertiser who dominates roughly 80% of health-related ad inventory. They have NOT noticed anything strange on their end. According to them, they are not paying any less and they're still receiving the same amount of traffic via their ad inventory as always.

I can't get into details. Apologies for vagueness.

It's affecting adsense and adwords. The adsense backfill of adx is struggling too.

Hopefully it's fixed soon. Google is losing a ton of money too...

@Nightmute so you're suggesting that this is an actual inventory bug and NOT a reporting bug? In other words, the revenue that all publishers are seeing is their true revenue?

@nickMNS CPM ads are gaining on CPC ads at my site. If this is a trend, I'm not one bit happy.

I hardly get any CPM ads, but the ones I do have are doing worse than the CPC ads. So no shift here.

Hi everyone, I have been reading this forum for a while but after hitting with the same problem as you guys on Adsense, I've decided to join.
My problem started Saturday 5th - to now. My earning just stopped and went dead overnight. I was earning £30-£40 a day, but now it's stuck at £0.19! I'm so upset and really hope Google fixed this. Yup my RPM and CPC has just nose dived.
I really hope Google reinstate our lost earning and also sort this out asap.

I just posted in the other thread but wanted to include it here. When I spoke to Google via chat yesterday and asked whether this was a glitch on their end or not, this is exactly what they said: “Possibly, we can’t say for sure just yet. However, there seems to be a pattern that would indicate something’s up”

The revenue loss is real. I highly doubt $ is coming back to publishers.

They still haven't fixed this so-called bug, man. This is getting pathetic.

We are using ADx and We didnot see any drop in our earning except (July/August common cpm drop). We do see a 3% fall in fill rate though.

I'm not seeing any significant or unusual changes in CPC. (Traffic mostly US-based.)

I have also noticed a really big drop in CPC and RPM which started about August 5-6th. On Aug 8th (Tuesday), I had about a 54% drop in earnings. My pageviews and impressions are at their normal averages. Im really not sure what is going on and why this drop is occuring.

Well here's some convincing observations.

Things seem to have picked up today, with a coverage of 95% up to now.

CPC bids have taken over CPM bids with a ratio of around 60% CPC vs 40% CPM.

RPM is still really low though, and in the end that's what really matters.

Hi everyone, I, along with others on the comms side of the business have forwarded this information, along with articles to the team to investigate. There should be some answers forthcoming.

Yes, me too. Seeing a rather big drop but it started on 31 July and has been going downhill since. A few days ago, another slide down...

Unless your site has a lot of traffic, you may not notice anything unusual...except that summer months have been traditionally poor.

But not this poor.

I'm amazed that people are still using adsense after all these years. People are so blind to these ads I can't see it being worthwhile unless you truly run a very high traffic site... and even then, you could make more money by advertising affiliate products and using other networks that pay a fairer rate for sending good traffic.

It's the second week of August--peak vacation time worldwide. The same sort of drop happened to me last year at this time on the second Tuesday in August, and two years ago, but not three years ago in 2014.

On my best performing pages I'm seeing blank space, so free candy for everyone!

Here's another consideration: apps and social media are competing more than ever with websites, and a lot of the action is on mobile devices, particularly phones, which aren't big revenue producers for most us.

@whatagreatdayitis
It's the second week of August--peak vacation time worldwide

This seems unlikely as the drop is sudden and big (as in statistically significant). A drop in demand due to vacations would be and is gradual. We have seen a progressive drop from highs in May and we expect to begin to see a gradual increase into December. But this does not explain the sudden events of the past few days.

I'm seeing overall RPM slowly climb back up today, so they may have started rolling out a fix. Its still far below average, but already it is much better than the past two days.

Seeing a 90% recovery today compared to the past three days. This is good news for all, a fix might be in the works as we speak.

I am reluctant to comment on intra-stats. But it is looking like things are back to normal on my end too. I have already made more money today than I did all day yesterday. (with 1/3 third of the impressions)

Looking better here, too, although still holding my breath.

can't see it - Adsense - being worthwhile unless you truly run a very high traffic site.

Everyone seems to think that, but it's not true.
