Resource-hogging flash ads.

I touch base with a large number of my website's pages over the course of a month as I revise and update them.

Especially this month, as I view my own pages I hear the drone of my laptop wind up as it prepares to show what I think is a Flash ad.

My laptop has 12 meg of volitile memory. And while that's not giant, its not small.
The ads in question bog down the responsiveness of my browser so much that it's essentially impossible to work with and update my pages.

I forgot to mention that the ads are "self starting" video ads, so there's no way to avoid them loading.
And there absolutely is no question that these ads are being served by Media.net (not Adsense).

I looked at my Media.net interface to see how to opt out of certain ads. But I don't think that this is an option.

I've disabled Flash in my browser (Chrome). I assume that will help me out but that doesn't do anything for my site visitors.

Any one else noticing this and/or have a solution?

Just get in touch with your media dot net rep and get them to block what you do not like. They are very helpful, unlike some other ad networks.

I've disabled Flash in my browser (Chrome). I assume that will help me out but that doesn't do anything for my site visitors.
Since Flash has/is being deprecated across newer browsers (the browser will no longer make the request) it is likely these visitors will not be impacted beyond the empty space on the page.

I do have to say my representative seems to have paid attention to my request.
They said they think the ads came from a "partner" ad source.
They said they stopped video ads on my site until the track the offending ads down.

I will say, what always drew me to media.net ads was just the "5 links text ads box" (300X250). I guess the video ads pay more, but the text link ads look very good on my site.

BTW, for what it's worth, Media.net just got sold to a Chinese company yesterday. No idea what that will mean to the US publishers yet; I'd think they'd keep it going but.
