I have just received an email from Google regarding Europe cookie implementation etc and they used their logo at the top of the email, fine, errrr ... 3,641 z 1,198 px, this is the actual image used:

I have one of those e-mails, but I have images blocked, so never saw it.

Isn't the message of that e-mail more worthy of discussion than the header image?

Well, unless there's something completely new happening, Google is a year or so behind with this.

The reason I posted about the image is that Google's always preaching about trialling and testing, this is an another epic fail sending out an email with such a ludicrously large header image, test it they obviously did not.

168kb is not that large & the high resolution is to ensure it looks sharp across all devices and screen resolutions.

What's new about the message is that it appears they will begin enforcing compliance with those ridiculous EU cookie laws. The consequences for AdSense revenue could be quite severe if you have many EU visitors.

It's not the 168kb, it's the 3,641 x 1,198px that has not been reduced to a sensible size on my email client, The Bat, the logo takes up more than 4 times my screen width, it prints off at 50.569444" x 16.638889" !

Noooo, I didn't print it off however I did download it to check out the stupidity of it.
