Actual 300x600 opinion

AdSense does not recommend 160x600 now

Just searched and read historic 300x600 discussions.

New opinions about this?

I use 2 160x600 in my desktop layout on the right side.
With this, the total layout is 1200 pixel width.

I have in the last weeks responsive design implemented for 6 different screen width.
In 3 of them would be 300x600 very difficult to realize.

Who has changed to 300x600, who remains with 160x600,
new experiences since the last big discussion about it?

I'm using all responsive ads now, so Google is deciding the size it serves. It serves a 300x600 where it can and I really like that size, specially for images. It's my second best performing size.

HOWEVER Google *still* in 2015 is occasionally serving a single ginormous text ad in that space, and still expanding it to a full 600 pixels height, resulting in a large white space below the ad unit. That *really* pisses me off. They should know how to collapse the ad unit by now.

I second that sentiment!

I use a 120x600 ad on my main landing page and, frankly, it doesn't do all that well as far as revenue. I've been contemplating changing it to a 160x600 (a 300x600 is just too big).

Never thought about putting a responsive ad in that spot. There is a lot of room to go down (it's a long list of available topics in a forum) but not a lot to go width-wise; certainly not 300.

Any thoughts?

Some are using 300x600 for mobile?
I get how it fits but not how that's a good user experience.

I'm using a responsive ad in that space; Google decides what size to serve the user. So far whenever I've accessed it on my iPhone 6+, I have not seen a 300x600 there for mobile, but that doesn't mean they're not serving it.
