AdSense Filtering Dilemma

Could filtering high CTR ads lead to smartpricing?

In my niche, some of the best targeted ads are also pretty scammy so I filtered them.

Being very well targeted, said ads get a relatively high CTR. But they also seem to be on a big budget, so they get away with a relatively low CPC. All in all, filtering them didn't seem to affect the RPM - at first.

Now I'm not so sure anymore. I'm afraid I might have gotten smartpriced (RPM roughly 50% of what it used to be a year ago). And this is why I suspect smartpricing: without those well targeted ads, my website has a lower CTR and (probably) a lower conversion rate than the average website in my niche. Could this constitute grounds for getting smartpriced?

I could just remove the filters on some of the scammy ads, but I would hate to expose my users to them. On the other hand, if I don't try I will never know.

What do you think guys? Any ideea / suggestion / personal experience?

Thanks,
Asterickx

Pretty sure smart pricing is just about traffic quality.

As far as I'm concerned, a few AdSense pennies isn't worth subjecting my users to some of the disgusting ads. But that's me (and my sites are supposedly family friendly, to the extent that I'm family friendly)
