In the US, companies are required to send these out in January. I'm on the east coast of the US and didn't receive my W-2 from Google. Did others receive theirs?

You're not going to get a W2 because you're not a Google employee. I don't know if Google sends out 1099s (I'm a corporation), but if you get anything, that's what it will be.

Thanks Meg, I'm also a corporation and received a 1099 last year. Didn't get one yet for 2014.

If you are a corp, then you shouldn't even get a 1099.

Maybe it depends? I don't get 1099s either.

Corporations, sole proprietors, individuals....if you received payments from Google you should get a 1099 from them. I always have; have not received 2014's yet. Corporations are not exempt from paying taxes on Google earnings. I am corporation. Google sends tax info on every publisher to the IRS; if for some loophole you created you are not getting a 1099 from Google, good luck on not getting audited at some point.

No. From the IRS website:
"Payments for which a Form 1099-MISC is not required include all of the following:
Generally, payments to a corporation (including a limited liability company (LLC) that is treated as a C- or S-Corporation)."
I don't receive a 1099 as a corporation because I am not supposed to. That doesn't mean that I don't pay taxes on what Google pays my company.

ember - can you post the link?

Just a little way down the page, just below the first Caution icon. Under Exceptions (in bold).
Are they being sent out electronically or downloadable in AdSense? I forget what they did last year. All I know is that I've always received 1099's and I'm an LLC. My premium publisher client got one last year. Sounds like there is some inconsistency on Google's part. Frankly, I'm glad to receive them because you never know when you might get audited. More records the better I believe.

If the IRS does not require that companies send a 1099 to corporations, then not receiving one is not going to trigger an audit. I believe in documentation, too, but I also accept what the IRS says are the rules.

I did not mean to imply that not receiving a 1099 will, or could, result in an audit. What I said is that in the possible event of an audit (for any reason), I would want to have as many financial records (especially ones related to receiving payments) as possible.

I have plenty of bank records on ACH transactions received and from whom. I'm an S Corp, so according to my accountant, I don't need 1099s from Google nor from clients. I don't remember, but I probably had to send them a W9 when I switched from a personal to a business account.
