earnings reported for site without www. not paid?

HI, this was brought up in passing in another thread but I thought it was important enough to warrant a new topic. Apologies if not the case.

What I am trying to ascertain is if earnings reported for URL's without the www. may not be paid.

I have one site where all URL's are reported without www. and the amount earned from that site matches the amount deducted from my end of month finalized earning. It is a large discrepancy.

I have both www.mysite.com and mysite.com as authorized sites and listed as owned sites.

Are others experiencing this?

No. It is impossible to access my sites without the www.

If you try, it will redirect.

Thanks Lame_Wolf but do others, who do not have a redirect in place, see a similar issue?

A redirect is a good idea but it should not be a condition for getting paid the earnings that are reported.

You need to read up on invalid click activity, tomede. There are lots of posts here on the topic. If the ad clicking bots hit one version of your site and not the other, then you won't get paid for that. But at least it should be pretty easy to find and block.

And if I were you, I'd get that redirect in place pronto.

Same is happening to me and my non-www sites redirect to the www sites. Both the www sites and the non-www sites are in the authorized sites list but only the www sites show up in the owned sites list. The revenue attributed to the non-www sites was deducted from last month, so I am assuming that that's where the invalid activity was. For now, I'm going to take the non-www sites off of the authorized sites list.

I know these are real visitors and not click bots because I can see the IP's, the location they are coming from and the referral URL. It's just that they are visiting pages on my site that look like: example.com and not: www.example.com

Look in your URL channel reports, sites reports and Google analytics reports. See if you have earnings reported for example.com URL's (no www.) Then correlate this data with your finalized reports - if you were paid for the example.com clicks that's great, but if not this might be an issue.

ember if you have the redirect turned on perhaps these are jsut duplicate earnings?

Otherwise, if they are not duplicates, then taking the non-www sites off the authorized lists will just mean you will not be paid for valid clicks so I don't think that is a good solution.

I am thinking maybe this is the case.

See if you have earnings reported for example.com URL's (no www.

The only place I see earnings for example.com is in the Sites list. example.com is in the Authorized Sites list and in the Sites list but does not show up in the Owned Sites list. I am only being paid for revenue that shows up in the Owned Sites list.

I'm going to chat with support in a couple of hours (I hope).

I set up url channels in the adsense reports for different url's in my site so I can see that the visits are going to the non-www example.com/xxx.

I have no definite proof that I am not being paid for these, and of course would very much like to hope that this in not the case. I am just worried because the (large) deduction I received this month matched the earnings from this non www site. And when you also raised this possibility I went into panic mode...

Let me know if you get any insights from your chat with support :)

www and non-www are too different sites. When you google your site, which url does the search engine assign to? www or non-www. If it's www, then it's the site with the most visits which explains why your not seeing revenue on non-www.

Does the non-www url appear on the your Adsense report 'by Site'? Does it give you pages views, ctr, and earnings?

yes it does. And though I have both of them authorized and listed as owned sites, only the non-www url's show any earnings and stats.

That's not what my host just told me. He says that they are the same. So now I have no idea.

Your host is correct but in Adsense bot's eyes, they are different sites.
