I'm getting ready to run some AdSense ads for the first time on one of my sites. I've been educating myself before throwing the ads up on the site. I'm curious if anyone can comment on whether or not there is a relationship between AdSense earnings and any of the following:
- bounce rate
- % new visitors
- Pages per visit
I realize certain types of sites may behave differently -- so a mention of the type of site you have would help too.
My site provides information to consumers that is used prior to purchasing widget XYZ. 25% bounce, 80% new visitors, ~5 pages per visit -- i'm hoping to see how my site compares with folks successfully using AdSense.
If you want to make the most out of your website, just write up good content. Don't try to drive out people because you want to make a dime off of them. When they are done reading or finding what they want, let them natural want to click out because they want to find more then what you offered on your site or expand it in related info. I have seen too many sites that are made for adsense and don't offer anything useful, but a run around on the topic you want to look up.
I have seen a difference of increased earnings on the age of site, but I have also seen the same results as becoming a authority on a subject with good SEO ( at the same time).
I plan to only put one block of ads at the end of a multi-page sequence that qualifies the user and provides them with personalized information about widget XYZ that they're looking for.
After they get the info they want, I figure having targeted, relevant ads could make a logical exit point... since Widget XYZ is something you have to buy somewhere.
Since I only plan to show ads on final page of the process, I hope my bounce rate doesn't change much.
