Sure. Google looks at our prefs, and then does whatever they want, secure in the knowledge that as long as they are the best paying game in town for many sites they can do what they want. You want Verdana, fine, unless G decides Times might work better. Small large, medium fonts, same game.

They call it "testing" of course.

That's what I was afraid of. Reading other threads, and whatnot. I guess hope is our only alternative. Hope for competition, to get them to be responsive.

Well, I've said this in other threads but I've had great success with the large size fonts. Income is up about 20-30%. It took effect the first day in my case.

I will tell you that I mostly use 336x280 size ad units. The others ones just don't ever get clicked on my sites (not enough to earn any money anyway).

As they say "your mileage may vary".

Sally it took sometime before I noticed the different size, I since noticed an improved CTR.

I could not scientifically say the CTR improvement was associated with the different font size.

Like many others, I've been led up dry gullies by rushing to quick conclusions.

But I personally prefer the larger font anyway.

Same here. Two days now, and no LARGE font, just SMALL!

At least, before I specified LARGE, I was getting MEDIUM.

Try to shoot for improvement, and all you get is penalized.

I wish ASA or someone would respond here, it's been 3-4 days now and still no change. Even changing it on the individual ones didn't seem to make a difference.

For anyone who has actually gotten their ads to update, can you say how long it took or anything extra you may have had to do?

I'm afraid that increasing the font size will cause more and more people click the ads because of the unnaturally big font size - not because they are interested in ads/products.

The risk: In short term you make more money (higher CTR) - but in long run advertisers see that your clicks don't convert, and stop advertising on your site (-> less competition -> EPC falls -> allows more cheap ads in -> EPC falls -> allows more cheap ads in... death spiral).

What size ads are you using? I use mostly 336x280 ads as those do the best for me.

I also use 160x600's on some sites. Those have all shown up in large font for me. However, when I've tried the 728x90 or 468x60 ads, those all have small fonts, even though I chose to change large fonts on all sites.

alephh, there is risk in everything we do, every change we make, trust me I know.

However, since this is bringing in higher earnings, I am staying with it. This is why I check my AdSense earnings several times per day so that I can see if there are any trends I need to be concerned about and can make changes if necessary. It's now been over a month since I changed my font to large and still doing very well.

I'm using a couple of different sizes, the ad sizes don't seem to matter here, none of them have changed, wish someone like ASA or someone who knew what was going on could report here.

I agree CWebguy, I wish ASA would pop in and let us know why it is that the smaller ad units and especially the 728x90 does not ever show large font.

Also sometimes a medium font will show up in one block while the large font is in another block on the same page, I am happy we have the choice of font sizes but it would be nice if they would be uniform.

OK. I have some new data.
I emailed AdSense support, and received a very fast response. They told me that they were seeing all large fonts, and even emailed me a screenshot to prove it.

They suggested that I dump my cookies and my cache. I did. No change. Then I tried Safari. All ads showed up with large fonts, without me having to do anything.

Then I went to my daughter's place, and tried the same thing.
Firefox = all small fonts
Safari = all large fonts.

Here is my conclusion. There is an issue with Firefox and specifying all large fonts in your account settings. I don't know what that issue is, but I do know that dumping cookies and cache doesn't fix it.

So there. What say you?
There are a lot of smart folks here. Does anyone know how I can see LARGE fonts on MY computer using FIREFOX?

Sally, i noticed the same thing! In fact, I was trying to change a few parameters in ad settings, and no matter how many times I clicked save and went back into settings to see if the changes appeared there, they were gone! Need to sign in on IE and do it again. something's weird going on with Firefox.

OK. Just one more bump to clarify -

After looking from 5 different Mac computers, I have NEVER been able to see the "LARGE" font on Firefox, EVER. Even after deleting cookies and history.

There is DEFINITELY something wrong with the
Firefox and LARGE font combo,
because it ALWAYS refuses to display the LARGE font.
So there. I must accept what I cannot change, even though 25% of my visitors use Firefox, and will see only the SMALL font. At least I could see the MEDIUM font, when I specified "MEDIUM".

The large font doesn't work on Opera, either.
ONLY Safari displays the LARGE text properly.
Done with it.

Large fonts are working fine for me, and I use Firefox. I tested it in both IE7 and Firefox, they are showing up fine.

Good to know that it can work, and probably does for most.
