It's a standard way of building a business/site by promoting it first then monetizing it later. Worked for Facebook. Nothing to lose except users turned off by a new site with little content and fifty cents earnings a week.

Ah, I see. My only reason for wanting to sign up to Adsense now was that I got a great Wordpress template that is Adsense-ready. It has "filler" ads going to the designer's website and I really wanted to replace those with real Adsense ads - even if they don't make me much money for a while. It would just make the blog look better as people start to discover it.

Based on this, would it be advisable to just set up a new blogger account and apply for Adsense at the same time? I have enough niche articles for about 25 posts (from PLR) that I could put up on a Blogger account so at there is a fair bit of useful information, even thought there won't be much traffic.

I really wanted to replace those with real Adsense ads... It would just make the blog look better...

Are you sure ads improve the look of a site? Why not insert a photo or leave it blank? Or better yet, you can increase the usefulness of your site by inserting links to established sites about the topic.

That would give you some months to build it up and get it going.

I "could" put a picture in its place, or an opt-in box. Leaving it blank would look odd, as there would be a gaping hole at the top right corner. Or, since it's a Wordpress Blog, I could delete that spot and move everything up. There's already a "blogroll"for links to external sites in the sidebar.

If Google is waiting until sites are at least 6 months old, I have another 5 months to wait. It will take that long until my site it out of the Google Sandbox and actually gets indexed. So it probably won't get much traffic until then anyways.

Just wondering... once you have an Adsense account, you can put up Adsense on "any" site, right? (as long as it doesn't violate the TOS, like gambling sites, etc). So, it's just getting approved for your first site that's the barrier then?

Yes.

And the easiest way to apply is through Blogger account after you start a new blog that meets the criteria. In other words even if you start a simple personal diary you are all set to go.

OK, I can do that. I've got about 25 PLR articles I can put up. I can even do two Blogger blogs (different niches). Should I post an article per day for a week to 10 days then apply? Or spread it out a bit more?

if i have a website that does well in SERP's and wanted to change it to a wordpress blog for adsense reasons, i know i would be losing the serps and traffic but would they come back or would they be considered as totally new pages and maybe go lower in ranking?

Not true.

I personally have put Google ads on my new websites as an incentive to develop the site faster cause as Martinibuster mentioned sites with no content but filled with ads do not look good.

However, I have noticed new sites with NO ads have a higher chance of getting back links so you may want to consider that.

New website does not necessarily signify a new account.

Established, or even newly accepted, publishers can put their code on as many sites as they like.

So far I have put up about about half of the PLR articles. They are on 2 different topics, so I set up 2 separate Blogger blogs. I rewrote some of the articles (some just a bit, some quite extensively), embedded a related YouTube video to each and at least 2 pictures for each article. It's been just over a month since I started doing this. My thought was to put up the rest of the articles, let the sites age a bit (maybe another month) and then apply to Adsense right from my Blogger account.

The only thing that worries me is that I used PLR articles. Granted, they're not very widely circulated. In fact, I was not able to find any of them on other websites, but I'm sure if I looked hard enough I might. But I rewrote them, used my own graphics (not theirs) and formatted them much nicer. Do you think that would be OK, or should I just write up my own articles and start a new blog before applying to Adsense?

My understanding is that if you have an AdSense account already, you can add the code to new sites. If you do not have an account and apply for one, then the first site must be six months old before you can add AdSense to it.

And I'd avoid PLR articles. Even if you can't find them, they could still be out there. Better to write yourself or hire a cheap writer for some original content.
