This one shows a total amount that is roughly 12% of what I earned. This corresponds closely with the amount I earned via referrals, but is a far cry from what it should be.
While I'd love to only pay taxes on these earnings, I need to get it fixed. :) I've e-mailed adsense-tax@google, so hopefully they can fix it. Anyone else have the same problem?
In my experience, the IRS won't mind if you declare more income than the amount on a 1099. They don't like it when you declare less, however (even if the 1099 is wrong).
But I'd definitely want to know why Google is reporting the wrong amount and attempt to get that corrected first.
BTW - We met with our accountant today. I told him not to worry, we only had to get within 140k with what we owe. He reminded me that I'm not a former senator.
As of today, we have not received any 1099 from Google, and I never got one from them in the past.
I'm not sure but I think I remember setting something in my adsense profile to indicate that the account was an account that was under a corp and not an individual.
My accountant goes ape when someone tries to 1099 the corporation. That's also why I make sure I don't use my ssn in relation to stuff for the corp.
DISCLAIMER - I am NOT an accountant. If any accountants see that I'm wrong, please let me know.
Upon reading that you've selected corporation on your w-9, I thought maybe they don't send them for corps (I have an llc that's disregarded for income tax purposes), but then netmeg posted she's a corp, too, so I have no idea why you wouldn't have gotten a 1099. I agree with her that I'd contact support at this point.
