But I just this minute finished uploading about 1/4 of my pages, on which I had removed the regular AdSense adblock.
This is a test to see if AdLinks will pick up the clicks that would have otherwise gone to the regular adblock.
I hope that happens :) (otherwise this could be a costly test)...... oh well, probably not irreversible.
In some cases a script counts the number of characters in a description and displays adds if a threshold is reached.
In other cases, individuals can pay for an improved listing of their particular widget - one benefit they get is no google adds on their page
If I want to test AdSense on a new page, I delete the ads from a low performing page (FOREVER) to make room. The advantage of this is "forced pruning", which raises my impressions and eCPM over time, by relegating poorly performing pages to the dust bin.

So you're the publisher who still is willing to give YPN a chance. :)
It's not so much that - it is more like getting some income vs. getting no income. Even with the extremely low CTR of YPN, it still amounts to a few hundred dollars per month.
I remove pages that -
1. Perform poorly with AdSense, and drag down my stats. I believe that EPC is directly proportional to CTR when using AdSense. I therefore strive to maintain a high AdSense CTR, by removing AdSense from low CTR pages. YPN may get these pages.
2. Some pages get a low CTR with AdSense. There are some pages that even AdSense cannot target well, for whatever reason. AdSense must be removed from these pages, especially if they get high traffic. Otherwise, overall AdSense EPC suffers greatly. YPN gets these pages.
3. I need the channels for other, newer and presumably better performing AdSense pages. I require one channel per page. Whenever I create a new page, I find a poorly performing AdSense page, and remove the ads, just to free up the channel. I can then either place YPN ads on the old page, or no ads at all, since I have used up all my YPN channels as well.
4. I give Google and Yahoo about an equal number of impressions per day. However, AdSense pays me about 30 times as much. AdSense CTR is about 20 times YPN.
Back to the original question -
AdSense = 200 channels
YPN = 100 channels
Therefore, AdSense gets about 2/3 or 66% of my pages.
(not counting all the low traffic pages which get NO ads)

If it's about some income vs. no income, why not create a single channel and put it on all the pages you deem to be low performing with AdSense? Unless I'm missing something, by removing AdSense from pages because you don't have a dedicated channel available, it seems like you're choosing no income vs. some income from those pages.

Because I demand per-page feedback. Let's say I have one channel with 20 pages. What happens when the situation changes, and ONE of those pages starts to perform really well. I don't get to know which one. There is no way that I am going to do a "binary search" by isolating each page one-at-a-time, just to determine which is the good page. Rather than deal with this type of frustration, I would prefer to not deal with it at all. Especially since the pages that would be in there are low volume traffic pages by definition. There is SO MUCH other stuff to do.
There is another element at work here. I am piffed off that I don't have more channels. I am balking, on purpose. Yes, I am one of those people who will cut off his/her nose, just to spite his/her face. Especially if it doesn't cost me very much. Additionally, sometimes my emotions rule my logic. This is one of those cases, since we should ALL be granted more channels. My little silent protest.

To be truthful, there is one site that I DO pool pages into a single channel - the traffic is low, and I really don't care, except to get a "general feeling" of activity. But for pages on other sites with some decent traffic, I must have one channel per page.
