Google AdSense more open?

I think that Google should tell exactly how much people are paying to be on a web site with their ads, and how much Google is keeping of that payment.

That would help improve competition, and competitors could even try to out-bit for publishers. This will have the effect of opening up the pricing of AdWords and make for more trust for Google. Google is going to need all the trust it can get as it gets larger and larger and the Government starts looking at it for antitrust and monopoly type of reasons.

Yeah, i support you Mike.
and i think this would be much more beneficial to those who are both : Adsense publisher as well as Adwords user.. isn't it ?

cuz that would be giving quite a good idea of cpc from similar industry ads and keywords.

It would be interesting but probably serving only the publisher rather than any other party. More transparency is definitely needed - the TOS still deliberately try to discourage openness, i.e. we can't put publish detailed Adsense statistics even if we want to.

.e. we can't put publish detailed Adsense statistics even if we want to.

We are allowed to put pretty accurate approximations however I wonder what purpose it would serve to know what others are doing IF you do not know their widget niche?

If you could see a site in your niche with a good CTR and earnings and how their ad placements are etc and just how much information they deliberately leave out, fine, but as a generic figure posted on a forum board, not much use to me anyway other than probably creating jealousy! :-)

I think that Google should tell exactly how much people are paying to be on a web site with their ads, and how much Google is keeping of that payment.

I have a reasonable idea how much G is keeping since it's in their quarterly stats however are you suggesting that you/me/everyone should know with a little "this company paid 0.10 to appear here" down on the 4th page or are you just saying the top advertisers wherever they may be at whatever hour of the day?

The info about how much it costs to get your ad on a page could be on the channel page that has the description of where the ad is, what keywords are on the page. The data about where the ad will be and the keywords are available to the advertiser now. How much it costs to get your ad on that page could be available to the site owner and to the advertiser both. How much of the bid that Google keeps could also be on that same data page.
