Average revenue per click?

That's terribly low for me. I'm running a non-English website which have a lot of topics. Since it launched 5 months ago, the pageviews are fairly okay, and around 700 pages link to my website, but i can only earn US$0.0125 to US$0.09 for each click.

How about yours?

9 cents ($0.09) per click is not bad.

$0.0125 per click is also not bad. But, ofcourse we have to say ouch for this one.

I don't want to live in a world where $0.0125 per click is not bad.

/in a world where..

What language?

In poor countries, the EPC could be lower.

But, even in english language sites like mine, I occasionally received 1 cent clicks.

What I mean is better 1 cent than nothing. Just imagine 1 million clicks of that 1 cent could mean $10,000 in value. Of course it can take a loooong time to accumulate those number. :-P
Patient...Patient...Patient is the keyword in this case.

I'd concentrate on the eCPM - that's how much you make from that ad block per 1000 page views - is it acceptable to you? If not you may want to look at your site and see if there are adverts that don't fit, then add them to the list of excluded sites so you have space for, potentially, better ads. This can be a game of whack-a-mole, and sometimes it can lower your earnings, but often it's worthwhile trying to spot obviously 'wrong' ads.

Unfortunately there's no reliable benchmark to compare your site to - the range of earnings we see on different channels on one of our sites is huge (some sections have eCPMs over 100 times more than others!).

The only benchmarks you can reliably use are comparing AdSense to other monetisation options, but the ease of implementation and huge number of advertisers means it's not often that you'll find a better solution (if you don't have a very recognisable brand or huge traffic).

Augmenting your income by looking at the new banner networks that seem to be getting better CPMs by targeting more is probably a good idea (again this requires you to be in the right vertical and have enough traffic to get one of the premium networks to take you on) - you could at least speak to a few and see what you need to aim for.

@ inbound
WOW, thanks for this comprehensive enlightment.

Per suggested above, as website entusiast with low traffic, I think stick with adsense is my best solution.

when i compared the result of my website and my friend's, the pageview of his website is less than one tenth of mine, but his CTR for some websites can be > 15% and all adwords are high value.

My problems seem to be 1. non-english. 2, too many "useless" readership, they don't have desire to buy anything. 3. too many topics that google ads often don't fit my website. 4. and put focus on how to increase the number of users, instead of attracting useful readers.

Many webmasters fall into the trap of your point 4 and concentrate on getting hits rather than getting customers.

i will start a new site to see if i can earn more. This time i tried to pick up a few valuable Adwords before deciding the topics for the site.
