Adsense displaying completely unrelated ads, how to change?

I recently started <snip> which is pretty much a joke site with tons of funny pictures of shady and suspicious vans. Problem is the ads from adsense on my page see all the talk about vans and must think I'm a van dealer or something because all the ads have to do with "econo-vans" and so forth.

I had 10,000 page impressions yesterday and only two clicks. I know this is why. Is there anyway to alert adsense that they are mistargeting on my page?

If so how? I've tried looking into it with no success. Thanks.

Patrick

But they aren't mistargeting your page; your text is about vans, and they're giving you van ads.

Adsense can only work with what you give it. Sadly, there are few advertisers looking to advertise against humour, and those that do have no way of distinguishing between a 'factual' page and a humourous one.

I have some humour pages that get great ads, some that get 'wrong' ads, and many that attract no ads at all (not many genie joke advertisers!).

You have to remember that Adsense just does not have a sense of humour'; it's all business.

What ads were you hoping for?

Adsense is misunderstanding the appeal of my website. It should be able to select ads that appeal to a particular demographic rather than simplistically aligning keywords with content that contains similar key words.

I don't expect adsense to do this on its own. I was assuming that there was some way of manually editing your ads or alerting adsense to re-direct their approach approach of matching ads to my site. Surely this would be encouraged by the people at adense, because the interests of the website owner and the interests of the advertisers are aligned.

Adsense has no interest in the appeal of your site; it's looking at the content.

You have a few options; advertisers have a few more. But the main decider is a simple match between advertisers' keywords and your on-page content. All done by robots.

If you need a personal service, it's most unlikely that Adsense is for you.

Adsense is giving advertisers more and more control, but it is unlikely ever to give publishers much control, as that would open them to more abuse; you site may well be the perfect site for 25-34 year old high-earning males; mine isn't. But I could say it was, couldn't I?

Read around here; there's plenty of ideas on how to get the best out of Adsense, even for sites that don't immediately seem ideal. But control is something you won't get a lot of! :)

Its an issue for many non mainstream sites. My niche local music site had details of local music clubs for our genre, I get ads for night clubs and sports clubs in preference to music related ads.

I accept that this is how Adsense works but it would be nice to have a method of weighting the keywords.

justaguy88, Hi the best way to get relevant ads from adsense is to put related titles, description and keywords in each of your pages. I could see that these things are missing from your pages. Atleast try to give the relevant titles to your pages and you might see the difference.
