When I tested whether to get the AS cheque in local currency or in US$ I calculated that I lose quite a significant amount when receiving in the local currency.

The exchange rate was not wildly different, but the bigger the amount changed the bigger the difference.

I have noted that there is no option in EFT to choose between local currency or US$.

Now EFT is being added (slowly) to more countries how do the exchange rates look?

Would you prefer the option of choosing between local or US$ currency for an EFT?

I would prefer if Adsense wasn't in USD in the first place.

Nearly all of the adsense ads on my sites are from European Advertisers paying in Euro or GBP.
The conversion into USD is unnecessary in the first place.

We should be given the option of creating an Adsense account in our own currency, that way we will not have to watch the balance shrinking while we wait to be paid.

Entirely agree with you. At least they could offer a Euro account!

I agree that would be nice but it does not answer either of my questions.

Now EFT is being added (slowly) to more countries how do the exchange rates look? compared to you converting it in your own country.

The conversion into USD is unnecessary in the first place.

I totally agree.

But as long as the USD is in a free fall Google makes some nice extra profit from these conversions.

Maybe they have already plans for foreign currency accounts but wait rolling them out until the USD swings back upwards ;-)

Visit Thailand,

sorry, completely missed your question!

For me (in Germany) the money via EFT takes about three days to reach my bank account and was converted with the exchange rate of the day it left Google. So that's no big difference.

I would never choose USD for EFT as this would mean getting involved in foreign currency trading (Dollar still falling? Don't touch the money today, wait for better times... Dollar's up? Don't touch the money today, maybe tomorrow it's even better...).
I rather prefer money being ready to get carried into shops.

If I wished to gamble with the buck, I could still convert it back to USD the day it hits my bank account.

I get USD to EUR conversions on EFT and all I can say is that the conversion ratio is good enough for me.

The amounts I have to pay my bank to cash a check are far worse (and the effort is equally higher)

A lot of our traffic is non US, and I've noticed that epc creeps up even as the dollar slides down. Not sure if this is a co-incidence or due to Adwords bids in euros converting to higher US-value clicks. Given the economic news from the USA it looks as if the dollar is heading for 1 to 1 parity with the Japanese yen (!) so we could be getting record-breaking dollar payments even as real earnings decline.
