Two things that are sure to increase your Adsense earnings (could varry, depending on the user)

1-How often you come on Webmasterworld.com (ever thought about how much time you spend and waste on here? sure you can learn a lot and a lot from here, but I noticed myseld, I was coming here way too much, at the expense of working on my website and creating some quality content and improving things.
Just ask yourself: how many hours do you spend here per day, then multiply by 30 . I am sure that is at least 50 hours for some of you per month. If you cut that in half, you have 25 extra hours to spend on your website and built content.

2-How much time you spend checking yourAdsense earnings: this is another personal experience and from what I have seen from others. Up to November of 2007, I used to check my Adsense earnings almost every hour, wasting at least a total of 1.5-2 hours daily. No more. I have now cut it to only 3 times per day (twice per weekend) I am really not missing much if I don';t check it hourly. I have been saving a lot of time by checking my Adsense earnings less often.

In total, the above two changes have been saving me no less than 2 hours a day, which is about 60 hours month, and even more sometimes. Not suprisingly, this reduction in time spent doing these two things, has been negatively proportional to my Adsense earnings, because I have been able to create so much new content. My earnings are up by about 15-35% over the last 3 months (January was my best month in almost a year)

Just trying to help!

I get your point, but we might as well conclude that folks should refrain from spending 30 minutes of their day watching BBC or CNN. Instead, they should spend that time creating new content for their websites.

Whether your website is a hobby or a business, there's nothing wrong with taking time for other things. Granted, if you're spending too much time doing those other things -- then you're probably having a hard time supporting that hobby/business.

I think "balance" is a good word to use for this.

I used to smoke heavily and was a moderate drinker. I gave up smoking and had great plans for spending all the money I would save. Now I'm a non-smoking alco!

You are missing the point. I am trying to help here, it worked for me and many people I know.

Exactly, everything is about balance. But if checking Adsense and Webmaster world take over 50% of your time everyday, then I am afraid are not doing a good job in time management.

Try it,

I'll see your 2 tips and raise you three more:

The power of 2:

- Upgrading my ram to 2 Gig maxed my productivity.
- Having 2 broadband connections is amazing too (if you insist on just one, test for one month a double speed connection)
- If you can work on 2 computers at the same time go for it, otherwise consider 2 screens.

If you haven't already cloned yourself, you really need to try it! You'll wonder how you ever worked with just yourself before. I could never go back to just being me.

Guys, Guys, Guys - I am sure the OP is only giving his ideas back to webmasterworld and you are all ripping the pish.

I see what you mean asas111 I used to spend all day on webmasterworld reading everything however back then I had an employer and I don't mind spending all that time "researching". I do agree that by spending less time reading random posts in webmasterworld has also helped me make 4 times as much as when I worked for my employer.

However that being said I do still like to read the news about google, yahoo and msn, adsense, affiliates and other things that could help me make a lot more.

No, I'm not shocked. Spending 50% of your time reading forum posts and checking your earnings is obsessive-compulsive behavior. Doing a careful audit of all your time usage will do even more good than simply cutting back on these two activities which can be very productive when done in moderation.

i suppose he's got a point. the very fact that we are posting in a post about how much time we are wasting posting posts suggests that maybe we should get back to work.

can't I'm afraid... but I CAN handle 3 frying pans at once. Does that count?

okay.okay. back to work.

but I agree with OP. Why just last night I was thinking to myself that I spend way too much time checking my stats, looking at DCs and fretting about my eCPM. Time that would probably be better spent building content and driving traffic.

Sleep...What's that?

An easier method would be to remove AdSense altogether then no worries:-)

Oh my... everybody is so right here... like Murphy’s law… makes you laugh while it is so true.

Some said a good job takes 90% of time for planning and 10% for implementation. Not sure about this particular ratio, but definitely agree with putting an accent onto planning.

Still, human’s life is so intuitive, rather than “written” in advance. It’s enough to catch a bad flu, or be a parent volunteer on your child’s field trip – and a day or more is gone.

I agree about balance. That is so hard to achieve. I believe that 5% or less are those that are capable of working it out. The rest struggles in this or that way.

Sometimes, being like a Swiss watch hurts, while in other situations saves lives.

Now we are back to balance…

…and yes, cutting on one side will benefit the other side, whatever that is.

I agree with asas111, and about beer and meet too, I love them. :)

Sleep...What's that?

Sleep is what you do at work when the boss isn't looking.

An easier method would be to remove AdSense altogether then no worries:-)

I have a better way.
Can you like... replace your publisher ID in your codes with mine? That way, you have no worries plus you'll feel really good inside that you helped a poor sod. Just a year will do... ;)

WebmasterWorld is my break from work. It's like talking to people at the water cooler. It's something you need to do to keep from going insane.

I'm an extremely hard worker and I don't regret one minute spent on this forum.

I am just glad that i can't get my adsense account on my blackberry...that would result in real wasted time.

Two things that are sure to increase your Adsense earnings (could varry, depending on the user)

For me the two biggest time wasters are games on Yahoo and videos on You Tube. OTOH when I start working on my website I spend several hours a day working on it for a few months until I get burned out, then it's back to Yahoo.

...I don't regret one minute spent on this forum.

That's the way I feel as well.

I agree absolutely. The weak link is your own self-discipline and not in any activity or potential activity. Your inclination to waste time is within you, not here on this forum. Maybe I'm just wasting my time pontificating here. :)

If it wasn't webmasterworld it would probably be another site that is a lot less informative, maybe even unrelated to my work.

Or, more generally, it's a good idea once in a while to take a stopwatch and a log and record exactly where every minute of the day goes. You can't manage your time if you don't really know where it's going.

But that's extremely ancient advice from Peter Drucker.

Reading offtopic posts is good.

:)

Ontopic... to increase Adsense earnings...

Go higher in SERPs. Every time I go higher in SERPs, my adsense revenue climbs.

Hobbs made 2 points that I totally agree with: increase Ram and screen estate - especially if you are designing or multitasking - I have 2 screens - one with a VMWare Linux server providing my development environment and one with emails, web, file browsing. When I'm designing - I switch the second screen to photoshop/fireworks/illustrator - for that I need RAM and screen real-estate.

This topic has some pish taking and some genuinely useful time management tips mixed in...

Damn - overstayed my allotted WebmasterWorld time by 26 secs....
