Starting this morning the windows vista wow ads are dominating my entire website and ctr has gone down 50%. my site is not about operating system or computers for that matter.

I'm thinking of putting a block on Microsoft if this continues to be the norm in the next couple of days. anyone else seeing these ads everywhere as well?

I get heavily targeted sometimes. You can use this to your advantage by using the max allowable amount of ad units. That way you will still be showing contextual ads while reaping the benefit of CPM ads.

Don't pay attention to CTR as that doesn't matter with site targeting (it's paying you by CPM). What matters is earnings. It's supposed to increase your earnings because it competes with the contextual, giving competition to them and vice versa for a higher CPM cost.

Exactly! The bottom line is the bottom line, you can't deposit CTR in the bank...

is site targeting done automaticaly? I thought I needed to check targeting (ad placement) on an active channel first which I haven't done.

These MS Vista ads are interesting, the ones showing in the 300x250 are flash and do not show the standard "ads by google" footer. they also break google map which i have on the same page.
