I assume this letter went to all AdSense publishers. It encourages publishers to submit thier content to Google Base. Are people here using Google Base? Has it increased visitors?

I didn't either. It would be serendipitous if Google base would help me at all. *G*

I don't know why I got a email on this. I never get a Christmas gift. :( I'd rather get a Christmas gift.

I recall Google said they will make Googlebase links show in the natural serps on the run up to the busy shopping period.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

It doesn't sound like anyone has tried it with great success.

When googlebase came out I made about 8 pages. But the pages are pretty much buried now under a bunch of affiliate stuff. So I haven't gotten any traffic really.

I would like to use googlebase, but I haven't figured out what to do with it yet.

What is the email suggesting? That we upload our sites to googlebase? What about dup content? Or are we suppose to create new content? How do you get people to link to you on googlebase? Can you insert your adsense code?

I don't know... I just haven't figured out how I would benefit from using googlebase yet.

The letter seems to be aimed at content sites and indicates you can get better traffic using Google Base. Since I rank well in Google serps and get a lot of visitors on very specific search terms anyway I wondered how this would add anything.

Looking at the example it seems a big advantage would be for local information and products.

I can't get a clear picture of how it all works and how it would look from the help section which is why I asked here.

It looks like a wait and see situation to me.

I recieved it too.

Here the main point:

----------
You describe and assign attributes to the information you submit and we use this meta-data to target search results to what users are looking for. In fact, based on your items' relevance, users may find them in their results for searches on Froogle, Google Maps and even our main Google web search.
----------

I was going to post about it, but forgot. SO everybody's view is that it's not worth it?

Hi all,

Some publishers have found Google Base to be an excellent source of free traffic to their sites. Check out this blog post from the Base blog last week:

[googlebase.blogspot.com...]

And for more information about Base, visit [base.google.com...]

Give it a try!

ASA do you have any examples of Google Base for educational sites like history or social science?

How would a topic like that help get visitors to my site or help people find the information?

I'm not keen on their finding it somewhere else than my site. I want them to come to my site and then see what else I offer. Moreover I work hard on my site and think it's only fair they would see my AdSense ads.
