Here I am, expecting a major corporation to send me a gift -a GoogleGift- not knowing, I suppose, whether or not my company is a major company. So why shouldn't *I* send them some promotional stuff I've got lying around?
In fact, I have a REALLY nice calendar I can send them -- and it cost me probably more per than the travel kit cost them per.
So, where do I send it? Who there will get to hang it on their office wall? ASA?

When a company sends gifts to its customers / partners, that isn't loyalty.
It is an attempt to engender loyalty and good will. While it is useless to send gifts to a large corporation, gifting your account rep or someone else within the company that has given you personal service can be worthwhile and can make dealing with them more pleasant.
