Is there a Way to Filter Competitors?

Yet another newbie question.

Hi

Our (quite successful) website has been around for almost 6 years.

Today we have decided to try putting AsSense onto our site to see if we can bump up our income.

The problem is, our business is in (ABUSINESS) and all the ads being displayed on our sites are also (ABUSINESS). Therefore we are advertising our competitors!

Is there any way to filter our our own type of business from the ads being displayed? (without having to add 100's of URL's).

If it makes any difference, I set up our AdSense account using Individual rather than Business (I can change it if it would make a difference).

Thanks guys

Mick

The broadest filter you can add is at the domain level.
competitor1.com
competitor2.com
competitor3.com
...
competitor200.com

You only have 200 slots so lets hope you have less than 200 competitors and competitive resellers combined.

Another thing you can do is create pages that specifically target something else than your product or competitive products. For example if you are selling widgets but none of the complimentary widget products. You can do a page that targets those instead of the products you sell.

You can also try section targetting by adding a paragraph on a related subject and telling G that this is what you want the ads to be about. You can read about it here [google.com ]

If all else fails, remove the ads as your products are most likely your bread and butter and you wouldn't want to miss a sale for a 25 cent click.

Other than that... Good luck!

Thanks mrSEman

Have you (or anyone else) tried putting text between those tags? Have you been successful in changing the type of ads displayed on your site?
