Are small sites worth it?

or should you make big sites bigger?

I'm wondering if small sites can pay off. I run a site that is 500+ pages, and its a subject I love and love writing about.

But is it worthwhile to create small sites? Due to my current job/school I can't create another of that size or depth, but would it be worth it to create a few even small (under 50) page sites? Or am I better off spending my limited time on adding to the successful site?

I have some sites of less than 10 pages that are performing well.

They are very niche-focused with good, solid, credible content.

You wont make a lot but any money is still money.
