Im thinking of switching over from text/image to image only.

My websites are very image intense, and i beleive that image ads will integrate better that text ads. Additionally i think people are more willing to check out image ads then text ads.

The downside is that due to the less number image ads, its more likely that an service ad will be displayed or an non related image ad.

What are peoples experience with this?

Images from John Doe Advertiser look ugly, additionally there are only very few of them, lowering the competition and revenue. Often they are CPM, so you need mucho traffic.

I personally never had any luck with images.
Do you already use AdLinks?

Highly unrecommended, as said before, there aren't enough images to go around, plus I'd think some text in a page full of images might be a welcome change for your visitors and they should notice them and click if you play your cards right (blending)

Or leave it to the algo to figure out what works best, once in a while it surprises me ;-)

ok thanks for the input.

Ive got 26 domains, and enable only images on one of them. So far in 60% of the cases it shows a service ad (katrina/earthquake ad) and the rest of the cases it shows completely unrelevant ads (as expected).

But it looks much better and much more blended in.

Two questions:
1) Do you get paid for service ads?
2) Doesnt googlemedia bot instantly figure out what ad to display according to the content (instantly as in 2 requests for the same page) or does it take several hours? Reason im asking is if should wait and see if starts serving better ads.

Also another thing i found out, adsense preview tool is pretty much useless as it only shows the text ads and never image ads ( i was trying to figure out what ads were relevant for my pages)

1) You don't get paid for service ads. Their full name is public service ads, as in "Google and this web site are providing a public service by displaying this ad for free."

2)The bot can take some time to revisit a site. On the other hand, if you haven't changed the content of the page, then those ads may be the best available.

In my opinion, image ads will not bring good earnings to you..

I tried 1 month with image ads only and 1 month with both..
My revenue boosted up 5 times.. :-)

I should think that, if your sites are "image-intense," graphical display ads would clash with your content more than text ads do.

In any case, Google isn't yet a major player in the world of display ads (a.k.a. "image ads"), so--if those are the kinds of ads you want--you'd probably be better off with a traditional banner network like FastClick, Burst! Media, or Tribal Fusion.
