Quadrupled AdSense CTR - Now I'm Worried

I'm sorry to bug you all again, but since I implemented a new link unit a few days ago, I have not only doubled my revenue, I've also quadrupled my CTR. And this is making me nervous.

Of course I'm happy with my new stats I see everyday (all though I have to admit I've been hit by smartpricing a bit)
But when my CTR at the end of the day is around 25-28%, went up from 4-7% I'm smelling Google's Red Flag.

What should I do? Is this something emailing google about? (Got a little scared about doing this too, after greedy_player's reply to another post of mine)

Or should I just remove the link unit I added, and go back to my old adsense setup?

Again, I'm sorry to be bugging you all.. but I really would like some opinions.

I don't think that is something to worry about. Many of us have high CTR's like that. My ads are VERY relevant to my site and are direct competitors so I have a high CTR.

I would not worry about it unless your started getting a way higher CTR, then I'd ask G about it, but till then, enjoy making a little more money. If you've been working hard on your site and you happened to put an ad unit in the right place, good for you!

Have a great weekend!

Thank you! Then I'll wait and see what happens.
If they ban me, I now have someone to blame :0)

Just kidding ;)

Have a nice weekend you too!

When I added a link unit to my home page, it got a dramatically higher CTR than other pages did. It has since declined but it's still higher than the site average.

I wouldn't worry about it. Are the link phrases relevant to the page topics? That might explain it. Sometimes those link units work better than regular ads.

Are you doubling making $1 a day or something more serious? I doubt Google would be concerned with somebody doubling small amounts, but suddenly making $600 when you were making $300 a day might raise some eyebrows. I am not asking you to reveal what you make, just something to consider.

What's the difference of earning $600 a day, or $100 a day or even $.50 a day. If google thinks you are clicking your own ads, they won't shut their eyes just because you're a small earner. - They'll ban you.

I'm not saying I'm much of a big earner, I have somewhere around $5 a day. This is from a very small Norwegian site. My traffic is all from Norway and the fact that there are only 4,7 million people living here, I can't count on any more from my very tiny niche.

However, I am about to publish a brand new site, international, and I have greater hopes for this one. It would be a shame to be banned from the google adsense program before I even get to test my new site with it. Even though I am not making this site just to put adsense on it. (SiteSubject is a big hobby of mine) It would be nice to have a little extra for hosting, domain etc..

And by the way: My $5 a day are as serious to me as the $300, $600 or $1000/day are to you ;)
But thank you for your reply anyway. I DID appriciate it :)

Not to belittle your $5 a day, but the difference is to do with the significance of the changes.

If you have a large amount of traffic (100's, if not 1000's, of clicks or more), just a small change in your statistics could be significant.

But if you only see a few clicks a day, any trends will be hidden by the potentially enormous variance between individual visitors and individual clicks.
