Hi everybody, im new here, i've been reading posts for a few months, and then i think it's my turn to ask someting.

I've been working with adsense for a year now, im now making a few bucks a day (<10) with a couple hundred clicks, with an average of 10K page views a day, with around 900 unique visitors.

I allways read on how people recomend where to place ads, and content strategies, well i sense that all this applies to non-forum sites, and mostly english content, my question is, are there a few tips that i can use in my forum site? the good thing is that i did it myself, so i can change everything on it, if needed.

I;ve seen that my area is not too good for investors, garage metal bands, so i allways get metal related ads, metal detectors, metal cranes, etc... seems like google havent heard about heavy-metal as music! lol

BTW my site is in spanish. i think this is a mayor con.

well that's it, any ideas?

thanks for your time.

Have you tried adding keywords that are clearly music related to the main pages? Do you put music terms in the page titles, alt text, and links? Some niches pay more than others, but when your site get ads related to sheet metal instead of sheet music, that is not good.

Thanks, you a re right, i noticed that my meta keywords, and description could be better, focusing more in music, but the problem is, i think that when users in my forum star to talk about subjects that has nothing to do with music, these keyword average drops, and there is when google doent really know what category is my site.

Generally you use a forum cause you want or have recurring visitors. Recurring visitors aren't really interested in the ads (esp. not if the targeting is off).

Moreover if they figure out you get some kickback if they click on the ads, they might try get helpful. If Google finds out those are invalid clicks and might land you in trouble.

I only have a very unobtrusive adlinks in the footer of my forum.

Here's a good thread from this forum (6 tips for Adsense on Forums):

And another from the official Google Adsense blog (with a nice hotspot map for forums):

You say 700/900 = 22% of your visitors are clicking on an ad. You must be doing something right :-).

I only have a very unobtrusive adlinks in the footer of my forum.

I have a nice banner at the top of both my forums. One of the forums is doing very well, the other only so so.

I have found that colors that stand out are your best bet for forums. But the ads must be targeted to something your repeat visitors would want to click on or your just wasting your time. Try section targeting if the ads are completely off topic.
