Why not ask Google since perhaps breaking TOS could lose you your account?

when the api was first released last year, there wa sa a slight controversy on this in the google maps group, as the map dept. said no as commercial uses of the maps are against tos, but the adsense people said yes it was ok. It was eventually posted it was ok to use both together. but i would double check to make sure.

In my experiences maps and adsense dont work very well together, on my sites i attribute that to
1. when theres a map on a page i think everyone's attention is automaticaly drawn towards the map and they then just block out whatever else is on the page.
2. the ads i get tend to be very locally based, and since the areas targeted don't have alot of advertisers, i tend to get alot of the dynamic keyword insertion stuff ala ebay.

but of course your mileage will vary

I thought travel - related content should draw well paid ads, like flights, hotels etc. If there's a doubt, I'll use Google Map on main page and adsense on others (dedicated to particular places).

Couldn't you drop a link to the discussion you mentioned?

like i said on most of the maps i have, there really isnt any advertisers due to small towns and no tourism, and on the places that do have advertisers, most of the visitors are from that area and aren't interested in getting a flight or a hotel there. for the past month or so ive been splitting the views between adsense and ypn using templates and php if statements so i could see if page targeting with ypn would be any better, still a little early to tell but so far it isnt doing any better.

But if you are mapping popular areas that are visited by tourists, i would think you should do ok, unless by the time the people are looking for maps, they have already booked flights and hotels. chitika targetted to travel products may be a good fit as well

I guess that besides questioning that here you're going to send, or already sent an email to Google asking about this. So, you expect other kind of comments here.

Well, the most famous google maps api website is living of Google Adsense. I would guess, it is ok to use adsense on a website with Google Maps.

Actually, we think the Google Maps API is a great way for publishers to enhance their content:

Just be sure, of course, to read and remain in compliance with all AdSense and Maps policies and Terms.

OK, so I think there wouldn't be a problem. As for places I map, these are some of the most attractive places in Western Europe, so I don't worry about getting good ads, I worry about ranking for so competitive keywords :)
