Just testing the height of the search results with various keywords.

The search term 'homes' produced a results page with ads top and bottom that was too long and got cropped off badly at the bottom.

Please everybody build a list of words that do this and send Google your experience with the search results being cropped so they will drop the fixed height.

Problem with fixed adsense result height:

Sometimes the bottom part get cropped and pagination link won't show up.

Sometimes there is a big white space at the bottom.

Can we remove the height value from the code? If not hope G has a solution.

I've changed the height value to 1400 - that seems to stop the cropping on my site.

Ah yes, forgot to add px to the styling. 1450px height and 800px wide was perfect!

Implemented this last night and I think it's fantastic. Another nice feature from the adsense folk. Just need to sort out the cropping thing now.

#Alas the search on my site rarely gets used so not many people will notice this I suspect.

Perhaps a seperate iframe with the pagenav would be useful - and a way to change the font size and family...

I was going to add a search feature for my site to search the records in my database but kept putting it off. Now... it's done!

Hey does anyone have any trouble with IE crashing when using this new search frame? I am not sure if my problem is related to the new search frame or something else. However in my intial tests, whenever I use the search frame, and navigate to my pages from the search results. IE inevitably crashes moments later. Especially if I go back and forth between my site and the search results page with the IFRAME.

If I browse my site without using the search I cannot get it to crash. Weird.

I also tried removing all my banner ads throughout the site thinking they might be the problem. But it still happened (again, after using the search frame).

Anyone else seeing this or am I just an isolated case?

Looks like the results are timing out and leaving a blank space, but could be missing something.

NM - have to create a seperate template for it, can't just use a static page with code allowed to execute for this particular code piece on WP.

I've adjusted the width using the CSS posted here, but unfortunately the ads are then cropped.

I hope Google provides a solution, as this has the potential to be a very useful feature.

Got answer from Google, no width adjustment possible and changing their code is TOS violation...

I installed the search results on own site code and so far I am quite happy, EXCEPT...

What would otherwise be great (showing search results on same website) is seriously marred because the results often don't fit in the area Google alots itself. Oftentimes the ad box at the bottom of the results is cut off. Or the page numbers (when there are more than one page of results) are cut off. So the top of the search results says "Results 1 - 10 of about 120 from www.whatever.com for #*$!" but there's no way to advance to the next 10.

THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM.

I would never have something like that live on my website if I had created it myself. Google, the wonder company, worth umpteen billion dollars, hasn't gotten this right yet? I AM DISGUSTED!

Google assured me that they have forwarded this concern to the engineering dept.

Hello, any update on the formatting issues of the google search results, or whether we are allowed to show adsense for content ads on the adsense for search results screen?

theshining, it's already been established a few times in this thread that you CAN show adsense ads on search result pages.

I don't have any formatting issues(implemented this search feature on Saturday).

What I am noticing is this:
1) The size of the search box, logo and option to search Web or Domain is absolutely, ridiculously large. Why not just a search box and a submit button? I'd even take just the Google logo, search box, and search button. Why do I want to give users the ability to search the web from my website? Anyone have any success in getting approvale to remove the Web/Domain option?

2) Payout seems really low, like 1/4 to 1/5 what a typical ad click makes. Maybe it's smart pricing because I just implemented the feature? But if it doesn't increase over the next 2-3 months, I'll be removing the feature and just buy a GSA. That way I can have the search box look however I want it to.

Actually, I'm doing pretty well with it. Better than the regular ads in some cases.

I put it in rather clumsily yesterday and got almost no AS search revenue (!), but I do like saying within my site and I think that the layout is quite pleasing.

I really like it, and it's doing better than the previous search offering.

Ok, so maybe we can put AdSense ads on the page, but I opted not to, just in case, and because I thought it was too ad-centric with the ads from the search showing too.

Now, you are not supposed to put AdSense ads on non-content pages, like replacement 404s, for example, but is there any prohibition against putting the search box on a 404? Seems to me like that'd be a natural, but I don't know if Google sees it that way.

I don't put ANYTHING from G on any error page, which seems the safest erading of their Ts&Cs, but I do put *my* search box on 404s, which will eventually get you to a G search box if you can't find what you want with my search...
