Another tax related question.

My wife and I both have adsense accounts. Her's is used for our "main" site, because it generates the most income and as she's a full time mum, it's better for us for tax (if it was in my name, I'd pay 40% tax right away, whereas she can earn just over £5,000/year without paying any tax).

As our site increases its revenues, I'm starting to think about packing in my full time job. At that point, it makes no difference, tax-wise, whose adsense account we use.

However, if we alternated between the two accounts (eg, just changed the Pub-ID every hour visit/day/week/whatever, then we'd both earn half as much, and so wouldn't be taxed on the first £5,000/year *each*

I see no reason why the tax office should complain because we both work on the site. But what about Google? Could we get into trouble with them by changing the Pub-ID on a site on a regular bases?

I have two Google accounts, one self-employed and one for my limited company. I don't change them round regularly but probably every two to three weeks. I don't change round the whole lot, I just change a few pages from one account to the other. I've done this for a couple of years and Google has no problem with that I know about.

I can't comment on the tax issues in the U.K. But from a Google standpoint, switching the account code on the ads will wreck havoc on your CTR history and may affect (negatively, possibly positively) your earnings.

As always, when in doubt, ask Google. If you ask and they say don't do it, that's much better than doing it and finding out later that BOTH you and your wife have been banned for life.
