Anybody else riding this pattern?

NOTE: If you don't see this pattern, then of course your web site monthly earnings cycle is different from mine. I am looking for feedback from others who share this pattern of earnings.

I've been with Adsense for a long time now. The comment I'm making about my monthly earnings cycle is not taken from just a month or two of stats, but for the last year of usage.

Here's the pattern:

- The month begins slowly with below average earnings
- After about 7 to 10 days of a slow ramp up, the best earnings for the month are in gear
- The last few days of the month are bad

One hypothesis is that the advertisers wait a bit to see how their campaigns are doing, then kick in the meat of the budget, and back off at the very end.

Has anybody else seen this? Does anybody have any AdWords anecdotes that might be relevant?

Thanks.

I've never seen any obvious "monthly cycle" pattern. Some months end with a fizzle, while others--such as this one--are going out with a nice upward trend.

I'd guess that the presence of an obvious pattern may depend on how much editorial diversity you have within the site. More subtopics = more keywords = more advertisers and bids = more of an "indexed mutual fund" revenue pattern, as opposed to noticeable changes if Widgetco uses up its AdWords budget in the last week of the month or Whatsit Corp decides to up its AdWords/AdSense spend.

I definately see monthly cycle:

Month split in three goes (according to stats):

22%
35%
43%

Month split in two goes (according to stats):

33%
67%

So beginning is always the bad, and income usually rises a lot as month goes on...

I've practically given up wasting energy looking for trends. I suspect this hot weather and multiple sporting events, school holidays etc all contribute to skewing any statistics you might gather.

Riding the adsense roller coaster!

Well, in my case those trends have continued pretty steadily month after month after month. :-)

And I do not think that analyzing where your income comes, and when, is not waste of time, since you can, for example, time your edits during slower "seasons".
