as the subject says, i am a little bit worried.

why check clearence takes so long? does it depend of check sumary?

please share your experience how long have you been waiting until your check cleared?

0 days- I use EFT.

If the bank is holding on to the check for that long, complain to the bank manager and/or find a new bank.

are you little...

except of those who use EFT.

everytime i'm asking them i get different information, it'll be for 2-3weeks. but... after three weeks there's still no money so i asked them what's going on and they said:
as you might know, it depends of bank where was check proceeded.

I: Are you sure the chek has been proceeded to the right bank?
They: Absolutely, you shouldn't be worried, there must be no problems.

Today I have received another check, but first hasnt been yet cleared!

The bank I gave the check is the group of the Intesa, very known in the Europe, low fees and fast (*?* the last I'm experiencing right now).

Also, I take it you're not in the U.S.? Foreign checks always take a long time to clear.

Yes, I am from Europe. I just saw behind the check there's two Citibank mentioned, one in the USA and another in the UK.

Can someone tell me if it's same to send check to clearence in USA or UK, or every check has to be send in USA on the clearence?

Talk to your bank. There are two methods used by banks for handling foreign checks, the first is "collection", where the check is sent to the issuing bank, the funds transferred to your bank, then you bank credits you. This option can take a long time, and I assume this is how your bank has handled your AdSense check.

The second option is "negotiation". What happens is that your bank buys the check from you, credits you straight away, then sends it off for collection. If the check bounces you'll be debited (unlikely with Google unless they cancel it), otherwise you get your money up front.

The best option depends on fees etc. Your bank will be able to give information on options. Don't forget that many small bank outlets and cachiers don't have a clue, so make sure you speak to someone familiar with international business banking - if your account is with a village branch, move it to a big city branch with better-qualified staff. Change banks to one which has a clue if you're not satisfied.

moonkey:

It took about 3 weeks from I signed the check and left it in the bank, before I had the money in my bank account.

This wasn't good enough for me, so I switched to EFT as soon as I could after this. (which was the first time I recieved money from the adsense system)

But if you notice on your check, you'll probably see two lines going diagonally across it. This means the check is "crossed" or whatever they say in the US. Which again says to the bank you use: "Handle this check very carefully, and be very strict"

I think this is why it takes so long.

Change to EFT if you can, as long as you can't get the money right in your hand, even though you recieve checks, you won't be able to slide away from the taxes anyway ;) And if you live outside the US, I do believe the check has to be payed directly to your bank account.

You give the check to the banker, the banker sends it to some kind of "bank centre" in your country. The people her contacts the people who has given you the check (google) so that they can confirm it's valid.

This is the explanation I got when I stressed my banker because it was taking forever to see the money. I almost screamed: "SHOW ME THE MONEY YOU %#"%# %#"/&&/&#"

But calm down, google's checks are valid ;) So eventually, you will see the money in your account!

*Hope I gave you an answer that fits your question :)

I don't know about Europe, but here in Canada everyone knows that Google has a Googzilions of of dolars and it would be like freezing the funds from another bank. Actually, I think the tellers find me that much more attractive when they see I deposit a check from Google. :)

My advice, talk to your bank manager, tell him or her that this will happen monthly, and ask them how many times they will freeze the funds before they start trusting the checks are good. If they say always, ask another bank.

thank you all for the informations, this is very informative.

as i mentioned, the problem is everytime i am asking bank employers i get different informations. I have also asked them:
"Ok if you send few checks on clearence and they show valid, would the clearence stop one day and will i get money right on the hand without waiting?"

And she said:"Yes, if we notice few transactions on your banking account made by check clearences". The other said:"No, every check should be cleared before deposit money on your banking account!". I have no words. I'll speak tommorow with the office leader and hope to get right answers with no BUT or OR or I'm not quite sure...

And I'll not give them check received today before the clearence of the check which I am waiting is done.

EFT is not available for my country :(

These issues do vary by country and by bank. Try speaking to your bank manager (not a clerk) and specifically requesting "negotiation" of the cheques.

Moonkey,

Are you getting your check in US dollars or your local currency?

We are in Australia, and when we originally got checks they were in US dollars. These took over a month to clear. Once we changed to getting them in Australian dollars they cleared in about a week. No huge clearing fee either! :)
