Seems all the Rejected MFAs Are On Contents

I've been seeing a bunch of ads for my site which I never saw before. You know the type, those high yield industries like hotels, tourism, finance and pharmaceutical, showing up on my sites - which have nothing related to these spammy industry. When I verify the sites, they are all Made for Adsense spammers who probably can't survive or afford Adwords Search.

Have you noticed this?

Never saw anything like this before!

If it's still like this in the morning, it may be time to strip the ads and go back just serving content.

Targeting has been getting worse for quite a while now. Just when I think it can't get much lower I see a "work at home" ad. <sigh>

Humble:

Yes, it does affect earnings. Big time.

Based on the experience of others here, I emptied the filter list on Saturday to see if/how the recent changes on Adwords changed the Adsense side of things.

Saturday was the thrid worst day of the year so far, and Sunday was not that much better. So on Sunday evening I did a first check using the Preview Tool.

My findings:

1) Many of the usual suspects are still around...

I still saw eBay ads, some MFAs with blended Adsense, some blatant TOS violators, some get-rich-quick schemes, some eMail harvesters and useless directories. So I started to fill the filter list again. Right now, I have filled roughly 40% again. The difference is striking: EPC shot up by 33%, almost reaching previous highs.

2) ...but the number of garbage advertisers seems to be reduced!

And that's the good news. A lot of the garbage sites seem to have given up or at least stopped their campaigns. What still concerns me is that some of the domain cloners are still around, but as I said somewhere else, I am so tired of requesting better tools from Google.

Also noticing an influx of mfas. Great to see Google cleaned their own house, but swept all the mfa dust under our rugs.

No increase in filter list for publishers, no aditional tools for us to combat the problem.

I think removing the Adsense is the way to go! I don't have stupid punch the monkey banners because I know it doesn't convert.

Why would I have cheap Paris hotels ads that push away legitimate and related advertisers and get no clicks on my sites?

Since I started my contents sites before Adsense and never intended to get any real revenues from them - I mean, Adsense was goo while it lasted, there is no point continuing this program and tarnish the reputation of a good Web site.

Adsense's pocket change is not worth that much.

If you're earning only pocket change with AdSense, then it isn't worth much--to you. But that isn't necessarily AdSense's fault. Some topics and audiences work well with AdSense, some are more suited to run-of-network banner ads, some do better with affiliate sales, and some just don't lend themselves to being "monetized" for a variety of reasons. (I've got a site--not the one in my profile--that carries no ads or affiliate links and doesn't earn a dime. That's something I can live with, because the site wasn't created as a source of income.)
