Not likely to get better, Google is facing a couple of court issues that will likely cause them to split up their business model and change the ways that Google can work. In August, courts determined that Google, as it is structured, is an illegal monopoly. There are in ongoing court cases in the US, Europe and other jurisdictions over their current practices.
Speaking as a searcher: the Google experience is the worst it's ever been. Sites I'm used to finding when I use familiar search terms are nowhere to be found, precise search is a waste of time as Google ignores most of the words I put into those search terms.
The whole purpose of the Internet used to be let us find useful information. Having destroyed proper search engines Google has transformed it into their own private advertising forum.
In the meanwhile the US legal system works so slowly that Google can safely ignore it for many years to come.

Hello Experts,
We’ve observed a noticeable drop in our engagement rate following the recent Google algorithm update. Additionally, despite having previously healthy core web vitals, we’ve noticed a decline in those metrics as well. While we are already working on the technical SEO fixes, I’d appreciate your suggestions on how to further address this issue and improve engagement.
Looking forward to your thoughts!

earch volatility can take a while to stabilize, especially when major algorithm updates are rolled out, like Google’s core updates or those targeting specific niches (e.g., YMYL—Your Money, Your Life). From August through October, it’s possible that multiple updates have been stacking up, causing ranking fluctuations as Google refines how it evaluates content. Factors like adjusting E-E-A-T signals, indexing speed, and even new content trends can add to the instability.
Unfortunately, there’s no fixed timeline—it depends on how quickly Google fine-tunes its algorithms and how the broader web adapts. Stability might come a few weeks after the last major update, but in the meantime, focus on improving site performance, creating high-quality, user-focused content, and monitoring Search Console for insights.

Volatility is the result of a game of cat and mouse. Guys are constantly trying to find hacks to abuse the algorithm to artificially improve their ranking, so Google is constantly trying to refine its algorithm to counter this.

Good luck with that. A lot of the guys who drank that coolaid are tossing burgers at McDonald's now.

This is a mistake to think that anyone can create a site, get free traffic from Google (or others) and sit and wait.
It worked 15 or 20 years, and I feel lucky to have known this era and was able to save enough money to afford a peaceful life until its end.
But, to establish an internet presence, that can be profitable, you need to have a business plan that span across several years, in order to establish your "brand/name" and this is where the Internet economy is joining the old good economy scheme.
No matter the niche, there is always millions and millions of site doing the same, so you need to find a way to get noticed, and federate users around your site, and pop out form the crowd.
