Google Overinflating the Specific # of Results for Search Query?

Googles # of results doesn't line up

I just did a search for something in Google that states it has "About 1,560 results (0.31 seconds) "

However there are only 64 results with 55 of the results being YouTube Videos. Even with hitting show more results.

So where are the other - 1,496 results?

Is this repeatable with other queries. I used the following "SNIP"

Years ago google would show 1000 results maximum for almost any query, even though they would
state that there were many more. Now it's often less tha 1000.

So they've never shown as many results as they supposedly could have.

Most normal searchers wouldn't look at results far down the list even if they were shown. The only people that would are webmasters looking to see where their own sites rank.

Is Page 2 still the best place to hide a dead body? Seems it was in the past but now with search being complete sh*t maybe Page 2 becomes the sweet spot...

I especially like when their stated number of results is less than the number of separate items shown on the SERP. (With the kind of searches I do, it tends to be because most or even all of the results are from G### Books, and for some reason they modestly don’t count those in the total.)
