Do we assume this is a new site?
If so, in my opinion FWIW, you were lucky when you first launched and had a "new" site boost followed by the reality of G's initial "opinion" of your site and has subsequently demoted it.
As a generalisation a new site now takes months and months to climb the SERPs and even then, owing to the fickleness of the algorithm, it may not rank well for whatever reason.
The current algo is so fubard even a well-established site can be demoted overnight for absolutely no reason whatsoever and, likewise, another established site may be highly promoted in the SERPs and it does nothing but leave everyone scratching their heads wondering WHY?
Recently I have seen in my widget industry a semi-reasonable 2012 site catapulted to the first page for almost every keyword term they are targeting meanwhile I have also personally experienced one of my sites that had been #1 for years, demoted to oblivion and I have no idea meanwhile ALL other search ehgines retain it at #1. If there were anything that seriously wrong with it after so many years, why can the other engines not see it?
It's Google, if anyone says they can guarantee you top rankings without paying for AdWords, they are lying ... One caveat, if you are a HUGE branded name it may be possible to get away with uploading generalised text and images and rank well ... Why anyone would do business with a branded name for specialised products of which they have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever I do not know, but that seems to be the way that Google seems to think the world works ... It doesn't!

There could be many reasons for this ... Check your backlinks with ahref or other backlink checking tools to see if there any competitors attacked you with spam links ? Check your content if there any spam content or low quality content, re-written articles or even spun articles! Check with your hosting to see if there any hack injection to your website to make it harmful for users
Yes, and check the suggestion by @RedBar

Have you checked out they keywords of the traffic? Do the same keywords rank every single time or is it a mixture of all? Check out the backlinks to your profile. Try diavowing potential threat links which can alter your rankings.
