@imbckagn: i think you are using any plugin or something else, because in Google normal search you won't get any description in site links and second only 8 site links are allowed by Google (in normal and original search).

Looks like this is another one of the many, many tests Google is always running. I can see why they might want to test something like this layout for a navigational search - rather than stretching out many separate results from the same domain the way they currently do so often.

Looks normal here (US) and Amazon doesn't even have a sitelink when I search for their name. I don't use Amazon though, I wonder if this is "interest based".

I am in the U.S and no I'm not using any plugins. Two of my websites have these site links and then studiopress was another I found. I wouldn't consider either of my sites to be huge.
I mentioned this before but I always seem to see beta tests or get new features before others for some reason.

What kind of query triggers this feature? Is it a search for the full domain name [example.com] or just the website name without the extension [Example] or some other keyword phrase.

In addition to having 12 sitelinks, another significant part of this is that there are snippets for each one. This is something that was reported here in early March [webmasterworld.com]

I'm not so sure about that. For example, if someone enters only a domain name in the search box, I can see that they might appreciate direct links into various parts of that site. At least I can see why Google would want to test the idea.

Get the 12 sitelinks when typing:
example example.com www.example.com
- Yes there are still 9 additional organic results below the 12 sitelinks. - The snippets are the best part because they really provide good information about the specific page.
FYI: I'm not seeing the 12 sitelinks very often now.

What I would like to know is what triggers this feature to be activated for your website.
Do you need to have your pages coded in a certain way? Certain Tags?
Does this have something to do with the recent buzz around Microformats?

We've got a more recent thread on the same topic - see Mega Sitelinks - everybody can see big sitelinks now [webmasterworld.com] It looks like this is mostly triggered by navigational queries and something in Google's algorithm. It's clearly not microformats.
