Any problem with changing IP address too often?

Just over a month ago I moved servers for one of my websites, which changed the IP address. However, this server wasn't quite what I need so I will need to change again in the next day or two - changing the IP address again.

I'm familiar with moving sites around and wouldn't have any downtime or DNS resolution problems during the move (i.e, active on old IP for a while).

My question is... are there any known problems with search engine traffic when changing the IP address too often? My site is quite large and an authority site, but I didn't know if changing the IP twice within a month would trigger something.

I understand that the conventional logic is that there is no penalty for changing IP (assuming it's done properly), however I've read tales of some people suffering when making a similar change. I guess they may not have done the move properly, but I wouldn't know.

Any thoughts on this would be very welcome.

Would this not depend on the location of the servers/IP addresses?

I have a client site that was at one time hosted on a shared hosting service and they frequently changed IP address. Over the term of one year, probably about 15 different IPs. It never affected the site in any way, shape or form. As long as your DNS entries remain unchanged I don't think there is anything to be concerned about. But if your DNS is changing too -- I don't know.

I worked with a large site that runs identical sites at two different data centers for redundancy and ability to do maintenance. If there is a problem with one data center, or a need for maintenance, they just change the DNS entry to the other IP address. They flopped back and forth a few times one month and saw no ill effects.
