The subpages of my website have gotten a better ranking for a keyword I am following over the last 2 weeks ( gain of 10 spots or more ) and nothing was changed on or off those pages , no links added , no change on the page nothing.

How could the ranking have moved up ?

Amongst other things, could be some or mix of the following:
- Google decided that users like your site from some kind of user traffic / behaviour pattern
- Some other Google algorithmm tweaks happened that either affected your site or sites above you
- Other sites that were above you made adverse changes on their sites and dropped
- Google testing something, promoting your page and seeing the user response
- You gained links you do not know about
- You gained web citations

And also a possibility:
- you are getting served personalised results and hence are getting "better"

i think aakk9999 has done a pretty good job of covering the many possibilities.

Absolutely. Another possibility occurred to me - a page that links to yours may have acquired improved PR and is voting more PR to you.
