Google announced Monday the fruits of its earlier deal with Twitter, showing off how it has decided to present real-time Internet content within search results.
Google will build a section called "latest results" into the regular Google search results page that automatically refreshes Internet content from sources like Twitter. Google plans to roll this out over the next several days, and not all users may see the new section immediately, Singhal said. The company also announced partnerships with social-networking companies Facebook and MySpace to display updates from those services.

More useless crap will be showing up in the SERP's now. If you ask me Twitter has OK "breaking news" 1% of the time at best the other 99% is pure garbage.

Google clearly needs to step back and consider the KISS theory. Change for the sake of it does not produce a better mousetrap. If Google search engineers did try and build a mousetrap could you imgine what it would look like with it's 200 or more variables? The cheese would be feeling pretty safe.....

Google search gets more and more cluttered. What are they thinking? They only have limited space on one website, why do they try to stuff website search, video search, product search, twitter search, image search, news search and half a dozen other searches in one SERP? This is plain stupid in my opinion.

If they have decided that they want to put all searches into a big bowl, they should at least ad a tab "website search" in addition to "images" and "videos" at the top of the website.

Note - we normally do not post specific searches,
but in this one case we're making an exception so
members can see an example of the new "real time search"
in action.

Sorry for posting a link but it only appears to work with this [google.co.uk...]

Not seen this before, is it new or on test or what?

This seems like a huge oversight on the part of Google. All of the things I am seeing today make it appear as though it's a trivial matter now to push spammy/dodgy links out on the searching public. I can rank right there for any search I want and put a link in the Tweet that's been bit.ly'ed. Combined with the personalized search being default, and the DNS servers they've opened up... Google is really beginning to seem evil.

I dont know about the UK, but in the US, just search for a certain recently infamous sports celebrity, or the rumor mill site following this story,... or etc. etc.

Just noticed this tonite. Note sure how valuable it is in position 11 of SERPs, seeing as very few people get that far down.
