Sounds like a particularly nasty data bug. Does that sitelink show up in your Webmaster Tools account? If so, you can veto it. If not, you could take the issue up on the Google Webmaster forum or try a reconsideration request.

I also noticed this for SES conference site prior to SES San Jose, where some of their specific show pages on a unique directory had Sitelinks pointed to various sponsor sites. Are the links being pointed-to also being linked-out from your site Gosman? SES ended up setting up different WMT accounts to manage the sitelinks being granted to each show page. (search SES Chicago and you will see an example of the directory-level being granted sitelinks)

another problem I had for about 3 months with one client was a sitelink showing up live, but not in the WMT account. this just recently disappeared.

I have a different issue... One of my sites has lost 90% of listed sitelinks. Anyone else see this?

Yes, some sites that had the full 8 sitelinks went to a horizontal list of maybe 3 for many keywords. Apparently an ongoing tweaking of the sitelinks algo based on click-through data.

it seems that for the site where google has removed sitelinks, i get indented sub-pages instead. the so-called "forum indents".

The site in question does not link to the site it's showing sitelinks for. I have vetoed it but it only allows you to do this for a period of time.

Have you given your site's DNS a hard look for weaknesses? Also, a thorough check of your pages for any parasite hosting that was hacked in might be a good idea.

I noticed a while back that some of my sitelinks were pointing to subdomains (such as a registration page) but I have not seen that for a while.

You might also want to check that your web site has not been compromised and that there are no hidden links anywhere.
