1. Suggestions are now appearing on the results page search box - not just on the Google home page.
2. Personalized suggestions - the list may be related to your recent searches, if you're signed in. This could be helpful if you found a specific site recently but can't remember the exact query that located it.
3. Navigational suggestions - if your typing looks like you might want a specific website, that suggestion appears at the top of the list, at least until further typing rules it out.
4. Adwords links are now appearing at the bottom of some suggestion boxes.
5. The "result count" column has been dropped, as not being very helpful. I certainly agree with that. Now, if they want to show "total searches last month" I'm all eyes.
On result pages Google now uses the auto completion search suggestions that I've until now only seen on the homepage. Nice.
Just one thing: under some circumstances it kills the enter key, forcing me to grab the mouse and click the button. Might be an Opera issue.

I don't usually find the Suggestions very helpful, except as advance warning that I've made a typo. They are interesting, but in a way that usually distracts me from my intended purpose in the moment - and that hurts my efficiency.
]I'm seeing a new Google Suggest. Now when I type in something there is a pull down list with suggestions from Google. The "search" and "I"m feeling Lucky" button are moved down below the suggestions. Some searches show a clickable link. Start typing webmasterworld. You will see 3 different links as you keep typing.
How do you get that link. There does not seem to be any pattern to it. I find the results for www. very interesting. Yahoo is first. If I type google I don't get anything but if I type google i I get a link to images.google.com if I do yahoo i I get yahoo.in.

Top search terms will remain strong and rising search terms will have a tough time rising as people will be more inclined to select a pre-filled search term then finish typing their organic one.
Better choose your top keywords wisely, it may be that if you don't go after the top "google suggested" search terms that you won't see much traffic.
Not bad, but it makes it tougher in competitive keyword markets.
This situation has given me a chance to directly compare the old version of Google Suggest on Firefox to the updated version in IE/Opera. On the legacy (Firefox) version, if I make a one letter typo, such as pressing "m" instead of "n", the dropdown list still retains the "n" suggestions. On the new version, one mistype into a nonsense word and the suggestions list vanishes.
The new suggest feature includes results from recently typed queries. This does not appear to be cookie-based, but rather something that gets stored for each user.
The question is, if you're not logged in, how do they track the user if not by cookies (or Toolbar)? See this current discussion on browser session personalization, not touching on Google Suggest, but perhaps related to your observations...

We just started noticing these two new suggestions this morning.
Go to google and do a search for translate and you'll see a specially formatted suggestion for Google Translate. These kinds of results are coming up for a lot of brand queries. We've even seen paid ads show up at the bottom for a couple of queries.
Is this brand new?

I don't really care for the remove feature. When I start typing webmaster the SERP result is Google Webmaster Tools and the second choice is WebmasterWorld with a remove link on it...
Didn't realize it was over 2 weeks old.
