Have you tried the url removal tool in your Webmaster Tools account? Now that your robots.txt has a disallow rule, that should do it.

the problem is that those videos are associated with very high traffic pages, so i don't want them to remove, i need only to delete them for Google Video, but i have them hosted on my site.

for example: example.com/city.html <-- high traffic page

and on this page is the *.swf file which is exclude by robots.txt and
on subdomain.example.com/city.flv is the video which is also excluded by robots.txt.

all excluded but always shown in regular serp's and on google video.

i have no idea how i can tell google not to show my videos...

You might try submitting the .swf or .flv url, instead of the html page's url.

The language during the removal process is a bit fuzzy about "page" and "url", and I've never removed a video url so I cannot assure you how it will go, but it's worth a try.

ok, so i have to include the subdomain where the videos are on to my Google Webmaster Tools Account and then i have to remove the *.swf and the *.flv ? - ok i will try it immediately and let you know if it worked.

ok, WMT is telling that the videos are removed, but i see them still in the regular results - any other idea? how i can get rid of it? it is driving me crazy - i need to make them disappear in any way...

is there noone who has seen this results with this 2 videos on 3rd serp position?

i need a technique to get rid of it also from the google video search ...

There's been a decent amount of chatter around the web about Google going to two videos in some spots. But most webmasters are happy to see their videos show up ;)

Are you sure that the tool reported removal already? That would be extremely fast. Usually I see those requests stay in "pending" for a few days. At any rate, I've heard that processing video files takes Google a bit longer that regular html urls, so I'd give it a few more days before assuming it didn't work.

Alternative approaches:

1. Change the filename and the embed/object tag that references it. At the very same time, start out with the new file name in your robots.txt file.

2. Use an X-Robots-Tag in the server's http header for your video files. If you're on Apache, you could add this to your .htaccess file:

Header append x-robots-tag "noindex"
</Files>

i will wait another 2 days, i hope they will disappear then , if not i will try your suggestions... the removal tool was really fast, but they do appear in google video search and also in the regular search results.

the last action will be to change the embed tag and the reference file in the swf file, but before i will try the .htaccess file

i tried this but my apache returns always a 500 error... i ask me why they do appear still in Google Video Search although i have excluded them by removal tool and also with the robots.txt

ok, a half of the videos are gone in Google Video Search, but still in Google Regular Search... The Problem is also, that the Videos were doubled indexed in Google Video Search - so i hope Google get rid of them... If that all doesn't work - i will change embeded URL and also the FLA URL - so Google find a 404 Error and will deindex them. But i'm going crazy - why does it takes so long - also the Bot doesn't appear in Log-Files ... any suggestions?

It's only been five days since you made the removal request - that is not overly long. Google is not like a desktop database or even like a monster enterprise database. It's an immense collection of data, sharded over hundreds of thousands of computers, and that data is continually in flux.

You've seen the beginnings of your request taking effect - even though it involves video files which have been reported to be a slower thing. Things sound like they are moving ahead to me.

ok, another week passed and nothing is happening - it seem to me that it will take ultra long - i have now renamed the files so Google gets an 404 Error ... looking how long it takes now - but i think they will not delete my videos from Google Video Search and i think also from regular Search and i do not know why ? i have done all they has requested - i excluded them by the WMT removal tool and also by robots.txt - the Googlebot got already the new robots.txt but that videos are still shown... that's the first time that i do not know what to do else to get this damn videos out of the regular search and Google Video Search.

perhaps Tedster might be able to advise on a "noindex" + redirect construction to send the traffic where it might make more sense for users.

If I understand this idea correctly, it would only work if you cloaked the redirect so it only applied to visitors from Google Search. I wouldn't advise that.

This is the first example we've seen here of the slowness of Google Video search to change - although I've read about it elsewhere around the web. I'll certainly remember it for the future.

i think the problem is another - for example - i have some videos in Google Video Search which have 2 names - an old Video Title

<video:title>Name1</video:title>

and a newer one, and Google think that are 2 diffrent videos - and eachtime i submitted a video-sitemap to change the Title, Description and so on Google thought it would another video - i think they have problems to identify exactly the videos. By one Keyword there are shown 2 videos on Google Search which are the same. Also, there i changed 6 month or so the embed tag

from yes to no - and the changes still do not reflect in Google Video Search and more then 6 month passed, that's horrible. I blocked all with robots.txt and i renamed also the files so Google gets an 404 error - there is nothing i can do more. I hope it will work - but how long will it take? Only Google knows.

the edit-time passed, sorry for double post, i want say that i got a shock while i was deleting some videos - Google Video is hosting some videos on there own server - after i delete the video *.flv and also *.swf - the video is still available - #*$!?

the idea was using .htaccess to direct to the preferred file in case Google is indexing some file against "noindex" a.o. expressed desires.

ok, i renamed all files, blocked all, removed all with WMT - the only thing i can do now is wait and hope Google will recognize that ... looking how long it takes - in a few days the first month passed...

another week passed and still no luck ... damn, how long will it take? it drives me crazy...

ok, today after 2 month, i got the first reaction from Google themself, my videos are still indexed and nothing happens but i got an answer from Google that they gonna fix that problem as soon as possible... you can't imagine how happy i am that Google talked to me... and many thanks to Tedster who told me where to place my posting...
