Content stolen: should I notify Google?

Hello,

Unfortunately, it has finally happened: A web site has stolen part of my content and Google have discovered the stolen page.

The page is about a highly competitive key word, and it comes from one of my pages that is ranking pretty high on this key word.

Should I notify Google? How? Is there a general method or should I go through the AdSense-abuse email, as I am an AdSense publisher?

Thank you

have you notified the site and told them you are going on the

lawyer
dob into google.
dob into their host.
email their client list if there is anything visible.

warpath if they don;t remove it?

Far better to tackle them directly, than hope google will sort it out?

Google the keywords "DMCA complaint."

You might give the offending site the courtesy of an email heads up, but stealing is stealing. Place a DMCA complaint with their host. The host is then obligated (with some exceptions) to remove the offending pages. Additionally, this act of theft may violate the host's TOS. If so they might just remove all of the offending website's pages. Turn about is fair play.

I wish it were always that easy to get the offenders to comply. I generally have to threaten them with legal action ... and even then if they are out of country they simply don't care.

If they have stolen content .. truely taken it direct from your site then i would file a DMCA complaint, notify their host and notify google or they will continue to do it again.. either to you or someone else.

Most hosts have got such a form to fill out, but sometimes they'll remove it if you send your site and the offending site urls. You'll have more luck with the hosting company than Google imho.

I don't think that you'll resolve something with hosting company becouse you can't prove that you are the owner of the original site.
But Google know exactly this becouse he has the history of crawling activity of your site, wich was the first indexed.

Do not bother contacting Google, we deal with this all of the time and the action we have been taking with decent results is

1. contacting the offending site with a c&d
2. allowing 72 hrs for removal if not removed filing a dmca with the isp for removal.

has been working like a charm.

Good Luck
