Last year France's privacy regulator found that Google lacked transparency and clarity over how it handles user personal data and failed to obtain proper user consent for personalised ads.

Since then its been appealed and this week the top court in France has ruled and upheld the 55 Million Euro ($56 millon) fine.

“(The court) also notes that the information available is sometimes incomplete, in particular regarding the data retention period and the purposes of the various processing operations carried out by Google,” it said.

I have used the privacy tools that Google created, and it's not easy to find or to change. It really does need to be easier for all users, many of which probably just give up before changing any settings.

We could try a test and ask how easy it is to find and to change the settings as they stand today? Does it work across all platforms and devices, or do you have to change it on every device? I'll just leave that there for everyone.
