Not only did the publishers lose revenue, but the sites were affected in other ways, with some not rendering as they wait for the ads to load.

It just goes to show how important this service is to some.

Google's DoubleClick ad server for publishers (DFP) went down for over an hour today, potentially costing publishers across the world millions of dollars in missed advertising revenue as Google scrambled to solve the problem. It also brought much of the web to a virtual standstill as the issue prevented pages from loading.Google's DoubleClick Service Went Down Today, Costing Publishers $1 Million Per Hour [uk.businessinsider.com]

Interesting - My Adsense revenue is unusually high today (and still climbing.) The highest take in a couple months for a Wednesday.

Yep I noticed, I use DFP on two sites, the outage caused my sites to hang while loading ads, I lost money today. I would estimate earnings were down about 10% AdSense revenue for the day.

That 1M / hour number is bogus and perhaps understated.

If Adsense / AdX was not delivering through DFP - the auction would be in favor of those who do not use DFP.

I am not able to show ads on my site today. I tried accessing my site using webpagetest and it shows http 403 on almost all doubleclick.net url call.

Has that issue been resolved?

True, but my ads *are* powered by DFP which is why I said it was interesting :)
