I get the distinct feeling that those asking for the update may not like what they get when it arrives :)

Now that the small businesses have been largely eradicated from the serps, it's time for Google to go after the bigger businesses. How else will Google continue to drive their growth in profits? Innovation? Google does not innovate but instead scrapes.

Google takes very slow and gradual steps to consume even more of the internet economy. Taking too big of a step in one swipe might cause too many ripples in the water. But with heavy lobbying efforts, and Google's close ties with the President's administration, I don't think they have much to fear at all.

Regardless of what damage Google's algorithm update does to the internet economy, and how it accelerates the consolidation of wealth online, it's perfectly okay for them to do it in the name of "quality." In fact, Google knows how to deliver quality so well that they fill up the organic serps with websites they own, invest in or are partners with.

From yours, maybe. Not from mine.

Maybe we're seeing different results because of personalized search?

Today I was looking for a CSS class to make text italic; a synonym of a word, and a translation of this word into another language. I stayed on google.com to get everything I wanted, without clicking on a single link. I like user experience, but those who produced the solutions may not agree with me.. }

Greetings all,

I live in paradise as I disavowed everything and I let Google make the right choice for the user. It's because they are so geared to user focus, promoting good quality websites to the top of the serps with great UI and UX that I've pretty much stopped all other forms of marketing. You should to, it's the honest white hat approach to SEO - let Google decide. It would also mean we would get less of those vids from MC about naughty link-building tactics that frankly I've had enough of.

The results are, shall we say, quite staggering. Depending on the meds I reach out for in the morning: sometimes it's staggeringly depressing, while other times it's the best feeling in the world.

Seriously though, I did disavow everything and I am really looking forward to what's being invented next as part of the the Penguin (money spin) update. If you want to be told what you are looking for visit Google (and then repeatedly forever and ever on other sites you visit), if you want to give a range of choices: use Bing.

In my main niche, I can see a lot of smaller businesses or new websites showing up on high Pages of Google search results, so I don't think that the Ops theory is valid here. However most of these smaller businesses/new websites are owned by larger businesses who used to be on the top of the search results and have got penalized.

I wonder what will happen to these smaller businesses/sites once the new Penguin algorithm rolled out. Majority of them are using shady SEO tactics..
