I'm think this may be new, I just saw on the front page of Google an offer for free webhosting.

Also, if you're in the low cost webhosting market, Google asked me to pass along a message to you:

HAHAHAHAHA!

I really don't understand why Google doesn't stick to it's knitting - adwords. There was absolutely no need for this service offering; there's any number of low cost/free offerings already. Google brings nothing new to the table.

So now they have gmail, which killed other email providers but brings in no revenue. And they've got Goggle analytics which killed the analytics industry but brings in no revenue, and now they've got free webhosting which brings in no revenue and is going to kill the low cost hosting industry.

It's like they won't stop until they find the killer app - the one that creates a backlash against them.

I'm actually surprised you can't put AdSense on any pages being hosted at Google Sites. Initially I thought it might be a good free web host but if I can't put ads on then why bother ;-)

Try to look at the big picture...Google is slowly taking over the internet. They are gaining market control in everything that people use...how they use that control in the future is up to them, but it won't be long before the internet will just be associated with Google.

Don't forget YouTube, Google's biggest no revenue acquisition.
